Really Underwhelming
Jul 2021
I understand the video tour has to fit all age groups but still was incredibly low level and so much pointless dialogue, even a 10-year old that is a space enthusiast would have been disappointed. Apart from the video and some tasks with paper for children, there is NOTHING interactive to do. The kids I saw were very bored and resort to running around.

I think the 15 EUR entry fee for adults is overpriced considering you get pushed around the museum at the pace of these videos and lots of the informative screens with scientific facts about the satellites are on displays behind red tape barriers meant to guide people through the exhibition, making them unreadable.

Apart from some actual artefacts such as a moon rock and an iron meteor and some cubesats, a lot of the models were either just big plastic cut-outs with no exterior material or gutted shells with solid plastic interiors and a real letdown. Inside of the ISS replica, there are no information panels just a whole lot of plastic and a 60 second loop video with no audio showing the astronauts doing experiments with no explanation.

I understand some of this was because of corona regs... but even then the museum seems really out of date for the price paid. They should really take note of other science museums like NEMO and Center for Life UK.

Corona rules not followed
Oct 2020 • Couples
All seemed well on the outset, two small groups keeping a distance with a timed outlay. You don’t really have much time to take in reading all the exhibits and watching videos we found small children found boring so they started running around the place.
After a time groups got confused or took too much time doing the children’s pack and the next moment our time schedule included three groups. We decided to leave early which was a shame. I think for younger children they don’t appreciate it and parents have to them deal with queuing bored kids.

Seriously corona proof

Fantastically organised self guided tour. If you follow the route and screen countdowns you won’t cross anyone’s path. We paid the extra €2.50 for the kids pack which made the visit even more fun, kids received a diploma and a large patch on successful completion of their “mission”.
Very enjoyable.

Need to fix the covid measures
Aug 2020 • Family
Clearly a great museum but the covid measures make it difficult to enjoy. You're on a timed visit around the expo, but we spent the first 5 minutes waiting for it to start, before realising it had already started and we were missing it. We then spent the next 20 minutes trying to work out if you're supposed to use the countdown timer to get to the next video, or wait for the countdown timer to finish before moving to the next video. Needless to say, we therefore missed large parts of each video.

There is not enough time in between each video to actually look at and read about any of the exhibits. The place seems to be mixed up with people trying to work out if they're watching the right video for their time slot or whether they're too early or too late and using up someone else's slot.

It's a shame because there's clearly enough exhibits for at least double the time.

I'll definitely be coming back though, after the covid measures are no longer necessary (and I assume I'll then be giving it 5 stars)

Absolutely worth a visit
Feb 2020 • Friends
This is a perfect outing for young and old alike. You will spend about 2 hours and there are some interactive activities which are fun. Price is reasonable. I would suggest you go when they open, since it can get quite busy. There is also a little cafeteria which is suitable for a drink and light lunch or snack.

Of course we're proud of our Dutch astronaut André Kuipers !
Lot to see involving him.

Not so big so expect to finish in an hour or so.

Great experience for space enthusiasts
Oct 2019 • Family
We visited the museum in a rainy day. With young children aged 2-6.

My sons like space very much, so we enjoyed the exhibition, with the 50th anniversary of the moon landing being the main attraction.

The kids can find a lot of educational information regarding the space exploration in the last decade and pass the time playing astronauts in the space station model.

Take the Space Shuttle
Sep 2019 • Couples
Really liked our tour with guide Piet who is very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain what you see and answers everybody's question. A pity that you cannot take pictures. Be sure to bring your ID, but no bags on the Shuttle. A few corny jokes that come with experienced guides.

Space expo &,esa tech center tour
Aug 2019
This site is not just another astronomy museum or planetarium.
This is a technical research center for the eurpeean space center.
While you can visit the exhibit hall, there is also a tour of the campus if you book ahead. I would love to go again and check out the tech center itself.

Jul 2019 • Friends
Half an hour walking from Katwijk, this expo is amazing, showing all the history of exploring the space with lot of experiences where you can live the situation, also it has many simulations to live the gravity on the moon, or inside the ISS or Soyuz... A special section for kids is available
