In the heart of the centre of Mérida one stumbles upon something truly spectacular. The temple is super cool... and free! It is great seeing it in the daytime as well as on an evening stroll.

Really just a photo op as no access unless it was closed as mid afternoon. A really impressive structure and totally at odds with the residential units surrounding it. Well worth a visit.

You turn a corner and suddenly ... bam! A Roman temple in the middle of the city! Pretty stunning! Even the house built inside it does not detract from the impact of seeing this temple. Do not miss!

One of the free Roman sites in the city. Amazing that someone actually built a house inside it albeit 100's of years ago! Not a great deal to see,

well, this is maybe also a Roman temple. but it is first of all a big meddle of all together that was built into and onto it. not my taste, but ok, taste may vary...

It just seems as if down every street and around every corner in Merida there are fascinating ancient Roman ruins. This is an historians dream. Imagine working as an architect and discovering these ruins! Simply incredible!

This temple is interesting because a palace was built in the center of the temple which is likely why it is so well preserved.

So, we had feasted our eyes on the Theatre and Amphitheatre and were looking for a bar or cafe to have a bit of a rest. We walked down a street and into a square and almost couldn't believe our eyes as we came upon...More

This temple is unique in that it has been incorporated into a palace. It looked odd to me at first because the structure is so sharply of two distant historical periods; yet I thought that there was a peculiar beauty about it. The two buildings...More

It was amazing to find this in the middle of town, with modern buildings all around. Just beautiful and well preserved. A must to see when in Mérida.
