Very, very small collection. If you buy the Merida single entrance ticket you won’t feel so bad. Wouldn’t make a special trip for this but as a part of the overall package the ticket offers it’s ok.

This is an interesting museum if you are a real history buff. Right off the Plaza de Espana. It's rather small so you can visit the entire museum in an hour or so. If you find yourself anywhere near the Plaza de Espana search our...More

This is a small museum that was not real easy to find. Because the Visigothic period in Spain was so short (about 300 years) there aren't as many remains as there would be from other periods. For that reason, what is in the museum is...More

For someone particularly interested in the period I would give this a higher (4 star) rating. The collection is housed in what appears to be a deconsecrated church. There are a number of interesting gravestones and church building elements.

The Visigothic collections here await a "real " museum - in the meantime, this is a pleasant display of some beautiful stone carvings, well worth a visit. The entrance is free, and it does not take long to explore. It makes an interesting contrast to...More

This is a small museum that you can easily overlook. It contained some lovely pieces of Visigothic art. Entry is free. It looks as if this small museum will be replaced by a new museum, we saw a plack near the Roman theatre saying that...More

The Visigoths tend to be overlooked, partly because they didn't leave so much behind to remember them by and partly because their history is so murky - but once you get a taste for their distinctive style of stonework you want to take every opportunity...More
