Duration of the tour is approximately 1 hour. The Small Tour (B) Visitors will visit the Lower Castle, including The Treasury of Orava Castle, The Chapel of St. Michael and Thurzo palace. This tour is recommended to the visitors scared of heights and those with reduced mobility. Duration of the tour is approximately 30 minutes. It includes the Lower Castle only. The Big Tour (A+B) The Big Tour is a combination of The Main Tour and The Small Tour (A+B). The visitors will have access to the whole castle. Amazing place
Great place to visit. Even if you don't book a guide, they have made all the necessary to have a nice visit. The tour is made in such way for you not to get lost and make the wrong turn. There are signs and guides everyhwere to assist you, you can download the app with guidence on your phone and all you need is a set of headphones. They give you a kind of a map in the beginning, and you can pay in any way possible. This place was in my "Bucket list"

I recommend for people who like history and for families with children. It's simple yet interesting.
When I firstly saw the castle it didn't look that interesting, but once I stepped it was something else. If you're planning trip to Orava then I deffinitly suggest getting the whole A+B Course so you won't miss anything. It is all well mapped so you know where to go. There are sometimes some events on the square at the castle, last time when I was there, there was a childerns play and the children seemed to enjoy this, but well this only applies if you know Slovak or you understand it.

    Nosferatu
I was excited to see Nosferatu's castle on my Slovakia tour, and it did not disappoint. The tour of the castle is quite substantial, involving more levels that I would have expected. When you arrive, shortly after the admission entrance, I recognized a Nosferatu movie scene - the corridor in which Nosferatu manages to secure himself into a coffin while the protagonist watches from the window above. There is a display about Nosferatu towards the top of the castle, on almost the top floor. It also references other movies shot there. And there was one or two souvenir stands selling Nosferatu souvenirs before you arrive at the entrance. It was great to see a live musical performance as well, part way through the tour. The passages can be narrow (e.g., stairs), and it was a popular tourist site. So the sooner you arrive after opening, the better.

Maybe we came not in a good time but... Castle is beautiful from outside, but interior disappointed us. Organisation was chaotic and we feel we didnt see all.

No guided tours were available(it looked as a new norm), everybody using audio guide(well... 90% visitors didnt bother, just walk through without any guide). First problem was no good mobile signal and problem to download the guide in the first place. Audio guide is not done properly by scanning QR, but by chceckpoint number. Seems easy, but numbers don't always go in same order as checkpoints, so i never knew if i missed something, only to find out previous number in next room to go. All visitors were freely walking the castle in bit chaotic fashion.

After finishing the tour, i realized at least 10 checkpoints according to audioguide were missed. No idea if they were just not available or just we missed them.

Most of interior didnt feel authentic, only like 1 or 2 rooms were worth seing. I was in many castles in slovakia, this experience left me disappointed.

Hello, thank you for your review! 1. The internet connection: free wifi for downloading the app is in frot of the cash desk also in the main courtyard and under the first gate. 2. Audioguide app is designed for all three tours: small, main and big. 3. If your tour starts at number 20 you probably buy a main tour, which not include the treasury and chapel. 4. Also if you miss some chambers -the reason could be, that you came between October and April (open is only MAIN TOUR) - it means that some rooms are closed -information bout winter tours (October and April) are on our official website. Thank you for understanding :)

We went here today on our way around Slovakia doing a bunch of castle and other sights. We did the self guided tour, which worked for us, since we had some people that understood both Slovakian and English.

This castle has a little bit for everybody. A number of movies were filmed here including a Dragonheart movie and Nosferatu. They have the inside with a bunch of historical stuff from the castle. The castle also has a bunch of great places for pictures with either the castle as the background or taking pictures from the castle of the surrounding area.

We saw this impressive building from a distance. It’s located next to a river, on top of the cliff. It has three levels: lower, middle and upper level. We bought ticets for „A” tour (9 euro for adults, 4,5 euro for students, children or seniors), and visited the castle without a guide. We climbed up lots of stairs but it’s worth. We saw some historical, ethnographic and natural science exhibitions and old furniture, guns etc… The view was breathtaking from the top.

Having read the 1 circle reviews I was a bit dubious about coming here but when buying the ticket I was informed that it's not compulsory to go on a guided tour and it's fine to walk around and do your own thing. A lot of the descriptions are in English and it's possible to download an audio guide too. So ignore the 1 circle reviews!

No photos are allowed inside and the contents of some of the rooms are a bit random but it's a very impressive building with good views from the top and well worth a visit if you like castles.

Very nicely restored historical castle with museum. Worth the time and money. Count with 1-1.5 hours, depending on how much you want to read and explore. If you want - you can also take a guided tour. Take into account that there will be quite some climbing.

It is favorauble castle to see. Well placed on the top of narrow and steep hill, hill is not very high.bit real steep.
You can just walk on the other rooms and entering upper and upper.
On the top there are interesing exhibition about how long ago people Seattle there.

We were also lucky because on one room there were little concert of old folk music.

In minus, during our stay there was exhibition about movis which was filmed there, including nosferatu.
