In the heart of Lauritsala, a part of Lappeenranta you can find this very unique looking church. Locals call it "ski jump tower". Unfortunately it's not very beautiful church but it sure is one of a kind.

At first sight you are amazed. When you look at the church outside, you might think it is a runway to heaven. Someone would say it is not beautiful becaus it is made of concrete. We thought it is beautiful in it's own way.

it's nice in the inside, the people you might meet are always gentle, and ready to listen any story you might tell, if you are a foreigner. the look is very bizzarre, but it tells you that there are also places and architectures like this, come again

Lauritsala Church or in Finnish Lauritsalan kirkko is an Evangelical Lutheran church and actually my home church. I remember when I went there for the first time I thought that it was one of the ugliest churches I have ever visited. I do not go there very often - but I have started to understand why this at the end of 1960's opened very modern and concrete church is listed as a nationally significant built heritage site by the Finnish National Board of Antiquities. I like the wooden boat sculpture.
