This place is a must when visiting Valensole. The fields are absolutely breathtaking and was well worth our 2.5hr drive from Nice. There were a lot of bees in the fields so just a heads up on that if you plan to walk through them. Remember to also be respectful if you do walk through to take pictures. The shop has all sorts of lavender goodies. We bought some lavender honey from the shop, which was delicious!

Fields of lavender stretching far and wide, and some of the best pics you'll get of it. No fee for taking pictures, just be respectful. Also consider purchasing an item or two at the stand. Pick the right day(s) in late June-mid July and you won't be disappointed.

Stayed south at the beach for a few days. But really wanted to see some Lavender fields and it was exactly the right season. So we took a 2.5h drive to come here after doing some research to check out the best spots.
On the way we passed many Lavender fields, but none were so big or so impressive like this one. The shop here has lots of useful and fun products. Soap, essential oils, honey from the lavender fields and stuff like Foie Gras Paté with Lavender (!). We bought some stuff of course.
But the real reason to come here are the fields of course. Their biggest fields are located only about 1-2min from here a little to the east right at the main road. Lavender as far as your eye can see...and even further. There's no real parking lot there, just some unpaved field, but there's lots of space on it.
The colours and the smell were equally impressive. You are allowed to stroll along and into the field, just be careful of the lavender and show some respect for their property. It's surprising already that nowadays you're still allowed to roam around unsupervised and for free.
The police showed up from time to time, since there are some car break-ins sometimes, so make sure to not leave valuable stuff in your vehicle if you walk away further from it.
A wonderful field, makes great photo ops. But even the best pic doesn't do it justice. Something you need to see for yourself with your own eyes. Highly recommended.

There's no entrance fee for both the lavender and the sunflower fields so please be careful that you don't step on any of the plants. Bees abound when all the sunflowers are in bloom and the lavender field would be filled with lovely orange bellied locust. Please don't just pick them! Have some respect to the generous lavender farm owners!

Pictures or words will not make any justice to this place. You have to experience it to believe it. The access is a little hard, you have to fly into Marseille, rent a car and drive for a while (recommend a hotel close by to it, so you don't drive all the way back to the city on the same day) to get there. The busy bees, the smell and the plain beauty of this place is worth any effort to get there. Just lovely.

We went to Lavande Olive Miel Savon, le Macrhe du plateau, a local shop selling organic products. The adress: Rue Albert Richaud 04210 Valensole. We loved the lavender honey, it was amazing.

We drove in from Ratatouille in late July only to find out that the lavender was gone, it had been cut weeks before due to the heat. So just check to make sure before you drive out. We did end up in Barjols and it was a great town with a wonderful river/ waterfall

We drove from our villa in Grasse to Provence. It was incredible! The surprise was the VERY winding roads... and beauty of the drive. Passing by Verdon Gorge was a HUGE plus. If you get car sick, take something because you'll need it - and it's SO worth it! The lavender fields were almost completely harvested by the time we got there (last week of July)... but we DID get to see and be in many of them. The town of Valensole is absolutely adorable and so friendly. Get the lavender ice cream! Make sure you check the dates of harvest time if you want to see the full effect of the fields. I think they begin harvest in early/mid July. What we saw was INCREDIBLY beautiful (don't worry about the bees.. they don't bother you) and the hum is magical along with of course the aroma of lavender. Highly recommend! (If you are going to shop for Provencal linens, this is not the place to get them, just FYI). You have to be around Aix or some of the shoppes in Cannes or Nice have a few.

Buongiorno, qualcuno mi può dire a che punto è la fioritura della lavanda in Provenza? Sono andata lo scorso anno ma purtroppo era ancora all’inizio e non era ancora fiorita non vorrei che mi capitasse lo stesso! Grazie mille

14-15 agosto 2019 c’è ancora qualche campo di lavanda fiorito? Nelle zone più alte?
Grazie
