Went last week watching Chubby Brown, wouldn’t think he’s 77 years old now and he’s still as good as ever! The theatre could do with a bit of a refurbishment, tatty floors, tatty seats (taped up) also the beer is extortionate £3.70 for a bottle of Budweiser! Absolute shame really as this place could be really good if it had a few quid spent on it, suppose they may be struggling and still getting over the pandemic so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt - hopefully better next time 🤞

Disappointing panto (Peter Pan) today 13th April - I thought a little boring and so did my two grandkids - didn’t think Peter had it!!!! he was lacking something - there was also a moaner sitting in front of us in row J she was with her mum and dad and little girl her mum was in a wheelchair - the younger mum kept putting her hand over her ear when my grandkids where shouting as they do in a pantomime - if she doesn’t want kids shouting in a panto DONT GO you stupid person -

The tiger who came to tea with my toddler and 7 month old. Fantastic show and brilliant price, however I didn’t purchase a ticket for my baby as no theatre that I’ve been to has ever charged for a baby in arms. Was told I’d have to pay for a full priced seat (Three rows behind mine and my toddler seats) for my 7 month old who was asleep and would be in his baby wrap on my lap. When I mentioned that I have visited the theatre before and was told a ticket was not required for under 12 months I was then told that this isn’t one of their shows so it’s only free for under 6 months? Staff at box office have a very rude and unhelpful attitude from the get go, even upon me saying I had no problem paying additional but maybe to list it on their website when the rules alter to suit the show to avoid screaming toddlers having to be turned away because a mum can’t afford the additional cost. Refreshment prices are extortionate too. Very dated and worn interior. I felt anxious with my child even sitting on the chair, the fabric was that torn, dirty and stained. The toilets (Health hazard) are that filthy that I resorted to using a empty water bottle to let my toddler pee in before I allowed him to go anywhere near it. My friend had three tickets booked for the following day and gave them away to avoid going.
Never Again!

Just returned from an absolutely brilliant evening watching Goldilocks & The Three Bears. The whole pantomime was excellent, the theatre lovely, the team efficient and friendly and the cast second to none.

This is our sixth Christmas pantomime and like previously, we wasn’t disappointed. Absolutely adore Scott Gallagher as Silly Billy, David Phipps-Davies is the excellent Dame Gertie and please don’t get me started on Timothy Lucas as Baron Von Vippenall - these guys (along with the rest of the brill cast) make the show.

There are jokes for the whole family - from children to grandparents, and believe me they are belly laughing jokes.

Drinks and food are reasonably priced - I would so recommend their Christmas pantomimes - I can’t wait for next years!!!!

Goldilocks & the 3 Bears.
I have been to this theatre almost every boxing day for last 10 years....a little family tradition at Xmas, my daughter was part of the cast for 3 years too .
This year was a disgrace.
Less than half the cast involved ( COVID I guess but no mention of that when I booked).
Less than 1/4 of the set.
The script was diabolical.
The dame was written in as the main part...probably by the/a dame 😲

I have never been as disappointed . Philip Olivier had no voice. He forgot his lines. They acted out(very badly) scenes where they had adlibbed...but it was clearly all scripted.
The guy who played Goldilocks eventual husband was SO disinterested.....no energy or effort.

St Helens Theatre.....you should close this production......it is doing you more long term harm than the short term stealing of customers money.

BTW......I was a huge fan before last night.

Family Trip to Theatre Royal Panto this morning. Four adults, three children and one month old infant. Pre purchased tickets online and when checking in at the booking office was asked if a ticket had be purchased for the baby. Of course, the answer was no. Was made to pay £3 for a ticket for the baby!! When my daughter in law came to us and told us this, to say I was beyond speechless and absolutely fuming is an understatement!
I certainly think the Theatre Royal need to re think this policy because quite frankly it is an outrage! I can’t think of anywhere else that charges a one month old.

Goldilocks and the three bears. Fantastic show, fantastic cast and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.

Left with a very sour taste and spoiled an otherwise thoroughly enjoyable visit.

We were booked to see the Bon Jovi experience but with less than 3 hours to go the theatre postponed
We had already got to the hotel we had booked for the night which I then couldn’t cancel
My main concern is that the concert was cancelled due to the band not being able to get to the venue due to an accident but the theatre had already managed to change the date to early next year at so short notice not convinced this is the full story

We went to watch The Greatest Showman singalong. I did not expect to be watching the movie with sub titles to sing too at the cost of £17.00 each. We was up on the circle so we were even unable to get up to dance due to it being dangerous without falling on the people in front of us. We left at the interval. The show was not advertised properly although I have notice a note has now been added.

First visit to the theatre to watch Sarah Millican. Had front row seats in the dress circle which gave great viewing and no obstacles. Liked the theatre but they should have checked the contactless card machines in the bar which wasn't working. This made for long waits on the bar as you had to pay and order via an app. Good atmosphere in the theatre, comfy seats and a great show by Sarah.

So this is the 3rd year watching pantos at St Helens Royal Theatre and they are just amazing! Been to other pantos around the north west and these are just so so funny in comparison. Hats off to writers and cast.

Also a special mention to the organisers, cast and theatre making it happen this year in COVID times, Bravo 👏
