Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This family owned museum is worth to visit! It is very rare and a very good cross-section of Finnish history, politically, locally and from a miltary aspect. The guidance is included and is very good. You can hear so many details and interesting stories about the found of the independent state of Finland.

The rooms are just stuffed with old antique, art and interesting gear. Most of them are very rare and all original. A lot of militaria is to be seen and even possible to touch! Like uniforms and mementos made by soldiers from the front during WW2. There are so many details, that one can not realize the time flying. The whole building is resonating strong Finnish history.

It is strange that this museum is not mentioned on the web-site of Imatra town under point of interests. I think it is a very important part of the history of Imatra and region. The location is fantastic. It is easy to reach and situated opposite the picturesquee "Valtion hotelli" -hotel. Most recommend!

A home and museum full of objects and stories from the past: about life, family, war, success and loss. A peculiar visit. Do not miss.

According to the sign outside, this museum should have been open on our visit.

However, the door was closed. The only living thing was a cat sitting on a chair outside at the entrance.

At least, the museum building looked interesting from outside. It is a home museum of a lawyer and war veteran.

This maybe is the best and liveliest museum in Imatra! Even the neoclassical museum building is a sight and protected. The designer is the famous Finnish architect Uno Ullberg, whose works can also be found in the former international city of Finland, Viipuri, which Finland lost when the Russians invaded Finland during the war.
This family museum is full of the most interesting objects, stories, photos and full of history.
The guide was the family's well-versed son, Jarmo, who really knew his stuff.
The other museum sites in Imatra were the usual ones that you see everywhere else, if you want a really intense and explosive museum complex, this is it!!

The museum is established by the guides father and mother and he has lived as i child in the house. His mother is still alive (about 95 yr old) but the son Jarmo has taken over the running of the museum and guides the visiters around with plenty of stories about almost every item displayed. You get a good picture of the Finnish history thru the civil war and II WW. Jarmo speaks at least Finnish, English, Swedish
