Lovely small walk
Jul 2018 • Friends
Went on a walk with a friend to lammassaari. It was a lovely place to make a small walk, on a sunny day, if you want to stay close to the center and if you don't want to go on a big hike that takes the whole day. There where a few birdwatching towers that where nice to go sit a little and enjoy the view. We picnicked there next to the water and because it was a warm day it was lovely to cool down, after the picknick, with our feet in the (little bit cold) water.

Walk on stone-age routes
May 2017 • Family
There have been at least two dwelling sites on Lammassaari (Sheep Island) during the Stone Age. Now you can walk on these "same" routes. There is a nature trail on the island. The nature trail is 2.5-3.7 kilometers long depending on the route you choose. Try to find a geocache, too.

There are some open campfire sites and a hut on Lammassaari. Firewood is available for free at the hut but take your own matchsticks and sausages with you. There is also a small beach on the island. So you can take trunks or a swimsuit, too.

Earlier we have visited Lammassaari in winter. Now we visited it for the first time in spring and the island looked still more beautiful than in winter.

Lammassaari Island is suitable for the whole family. But if you like a bit longer hike and more natural surroundings, I recommend that you walk to Malonsaari Island. It is situated 3 kilometers northeast from Lammassaari. There are marked paths from the parking lot of Imatran Kylpylä Spa both to Lammassaari (the southern route) and Malonsaari (the northern route named "Kylpylän luontopolku").

A nice afternoon walk with the dog
Jun 2016 • Solo
Despite having lived over 19 years in Imatra, I have still been able to dodge this place surprisingly well. It has great paths to walk, nice calm nature around you and apparently some Stone Age village (holes in the ground with a sign saying what is it) :D.

My only minus came from the hungry mosquitos and some might say other people might disturb you too if you are looking for solitude by yourself.

Nice walking route near Imatra Spa
Apr 2016 • Couples
3 km walking route with views to Saimaa lake, grilling places and shelters. On the way good cafe in the habor provides freshly baked bans and drinks! Good if you want to enjoy nature and spend some time outside.

Hiking and Stone Age dwelling sites
Mar 2016 • Family
Lammassaari Island is a very nice but small (50 hectares) hiking area which is situated less than 0.9 kilometers from Imatran Kylpylä Spa. There is a road from the spa to the island. The circle trail of Lammassaari Island is about 3.5 kilometers long and it is open in winter, too. In winter Lammassaari Island is an ideal place for snowshoe walking, too.

There are barbecue places with an open fire along the route. So it is a good idea to take your own sausages etc. with you. Cafeteria Kolme Ankkuria (Three Anchors) is also situated on Lammassaari Island. They have very delicious doughnuts there.

There are also dwelling sites from the Stone Age about 3500-4000 BC (5500-6000 years ago) on the island. That era was the Typical Comb Ware period. Potsherds have been found at the site. The site is protected. You may walk there but unauthorized digging isn't permitted there.

It was very relaxing to wander and wonder on the island.
