Very interesting caves a rocks

These are a real spectacle but take care to wear suitable footwear and take great care when climbing, avoiding wet conditions. A number of mountain rescue and ambulance call outs have been made with people falling.

I’m still spooked from this cave!!! Me and my partner went all around it all and it was ducking scary. Say in the “ whitches chair” and no lie my ass got so scratched. Was only in my car seat before l

Interesting, slighty risky

Let's call it by the more appropriate name of Rowter Rocks. Nothing to do with Druids, just a name given it to encourage tourism many years ago. Anyway, as you enter the village of Birchover you will see a rocky outcrop beside and above the Druid Inn. Park along the street. What used to be the carpark of the Inn is now an outdoor seating area and the car park is across the street. You don't have to look too hard to see the short path to the rocks. There is a sign saying 'warning. unstable cliff'. and you're there! A fascinating place to visit. Definitey not for those with bad knees, or little kids, or even dogs because the paths are uneven and slippery and there is a sheer drop off to the side. Fun to explore, though. Apparently it was exposed by the local vicar in the 1700s. We stopped at the Red Lion which brews its own ale and has a lovely blue cheese dip with they serve with a massive chunk of bread! yum

Fantastic site, great to explore with lots to see.

A fantastic site to explore. We spent a good hour walking around trying to find things. There are caves, hidden rooms, cared seats….so much to see and explore. The ground is a little uneven in places and some routes lead to dead ends. Remember this is a very old site with no clear markings so please be careful and respectful on it.

We missed the entrance usually marked and made our way up from the north west corner. This made for a fun climb up the hill side and allowed us to find more caves and things we wouldn’t have found otherwise. It also made you feel like you earnt getting to the top to find a lovely stone seat with a fantastic view of the landscape below.

For a free attraction I would highly recommend this. There are also fantastic stone structures across the road from the druids inn. If you walk up the hill through the woods you can find some extremely large stone built walls. If you decide to climb them, tread carefully. There is moss that hides area where there is nothing but a hole underneath and many of the stones are very lose and wobbly.

All in all this is a fantastic area to explore and you can easily spend a whole afternoon (possibly even a day here depending on how far up the hill on the other side you’re willing to go).

Exploring after lunch

Brilliant place to explore. Be careful with young children - steep drops and uneven ground. But lots to explore if you like an adventure. Great pub right next door for lunch or a coffee after.

Quirky place but worth a visit

We had lunch at The Druid Inn and discovered the caves behind the pub. Access was a little tricky as it's very craggy and you have to watch your footing at times. The views at the top are with the effort and there are some interesting features along the way.

A bit of a climb and some scrambling but worth the effort. Interesting history and a great views!
Nearby id the Druid Inn with great service. Also a short drive away is the nine ladies stone circle walk which is alo very interesting with good views on one side.

Amazing place to visit, can be found at the end of The Druids Inn car park through a small gate, steep climb but if you can make it its well worth a trip, the views from the top are breathtaking, not to be missed, not suitable for people with walking problems

These caves are so interesting and Birchover's best kept secret, probably because they have no safety rails etc. I love them but tread carefully.

Mini adventure

Fun little adventure climbing up the rocks and hills. There didn't seem to be much there though that would fill an hour or more. We were there for about 15/20 minutes all together and stopped off in the pub after for a quick drink
