Very long drive on rough curvy road but well worth the drive. Don't give up where the blacktop ends, follow the gravel road to a gravel lot, walk through the gate and follow the trail down to the falls. Very large fall with alot of water flowing when we were there. Definitely worth the trip just be prepared for it!

Yes, the road is long and windy to get there, but what a reward! These falls are exhilarating. The track down is steep, but the notice board warns exactly what to expect, so no surprises there. Well worth the trip

Great Waterfall - better after some rain - about time that Tararua District Council upgraded the track and fixed the picnic table that is damaged. Can be viewed from the top if you don't want to risk the track as mentioned above. This is about 45 min from Dannevirke on a windy road with the last two or three kms... More

Wish we had read reviews before we left! Such a long drive on curvy roads to get there in rain and not be able to walk down due to slippery mud and not suitable for third trimester woman or toddlers :(. Daughter ended up carsick for the first time ever on our way between Dannevirke and the Falls. We were... More

Beautiful water fall to visit, it is about 1 hour drive from Dannevirke, narrow road, and some of it gravel. Once you get to the site, a walk down quite a steep walkway, to the bottom of this lovely tranquil area. Make sure you take some refreshments with you, as its quite a climb back up to the top.

The hardest part is getting there. It is about 40 minutes drive from Dannevirke, along sealed but winding roads, with the last few kilometres unsealed. However, when you get there there is a large carpark, toilets, and just a short walk down to the waterfall which is pretty impressive for this part of New Zealand. Some people choose to swim...
