This is everything I imagined a proper Thai temple should be. Peaceful, stunningly beautiful, amazing surroundings. I didn't go on the weekend, though. Where it supposedly can get rather busy. I think the images already posted covers it well. Highly recommended!

This temple is one of the better ones to visit if you are in the area. Beautiful views all around the temple. About a 2 hour drive north out of udon city, some nice places to stop along the way. The lake was just off...More

100 km from Udonthani downtown, this is the new spot for travelers to visit. The big white Reclining Buddha inside the chapel on the top hill is the new sacred place. So many people on weekend but it is worth to visit.

2 hours from Udon downtown but really worth driving here. Never seen in any other temples in Thailand

The Pa Phu Kon temple is a must to visit if you travel between northern Thailand and Laos. Very impressive laying bouddha statue and amazing buildings / atmosphere with a view (!)

I suggest to use local people because I rent local car wt driver it very easy for them .

Personally I would head back to town. I'm sure there are resorts close by but there wouldn't be much to do.

I do not think there is a hotel but maybe a home stay option.
