A great lunch venue right by the River Swan. This is a perfect place to go to on a hot summers day with cool breeze off the water.

I dropped my bags in Guildford, took the train to Woodbridge and walked to Woodbridge House. Don't bother with the Riverside by Woodbridge Cafe...it stinks. I could tell as I took photos of the river by its toilets. Spend a good one hour to 2 hours at Woodbridge House (note that it opens from Thurs to Sun, 1pm to 4pm).... More

This is one of the few National Trust owned properties in metropolitan Perth. It is accessible by bus and train and has carparking. Built in 1883 for newspaper editor, pastoralist and MP, Charles Harper founded the nearby Guildford Grammar School. This fine home is furnished in period and has beautiful gardens and a coffee shop overlooking the river. This is... More

This home, built by Charles Harper, completed in 1885, is a fine example of early colonial architecture in WA. It is steeped in history and the knowledgeable tour guides on duty will bring the Harper Family to life when they introduce you the history of Woodbridge over the last 130 years.

This beautiful colonial home situated on the banks of the Swan River between Perth and Guildford provides a lovely morning or afternoon visit. There is lots of history which is easy to absorb for adults and children. The place is not a stuffy museum but a welcoming display. The architecture is majestic and the gardens are set amidst the green... More

Timed it just right, many a time I have been to the Riverside Cafe but never been able to visit this beautiful building. One of the volunteers met us at the door and after paying a very small price she gave us all the information about the house and all the occupants until the National Trust took over. The building... This is the second time within 2 years that I have visited this beautiful heritage listed house. On each occasion my visit has been delightful. If you like local history and antiquities you will love this place. This is where the vision for Guildford Grammar School for Boys was first realised by the owner. The beautiful furniture and decoration is... More

If seeing historic properties in their original condition is of interest to you it's worth making the trip out to Woodbridge house. You don't need long to walk through and check out each room as there is only minimal descriptive signage. You have to pay to get in, but it's a modest sum. Well worth a look!

An excellent example of early aristocratic life in West Australia. Charles Harper came from lowly beginnings to contribute greatly to the colony. If you are interested in history this is a must see
