Explore the history of our town - on foot. Established on what is virtually an island encircled by the Swan and Helena Rivers, Guildford is ideally suited to exploration on foot. To assist you in discovering the numerous fascinating historic buildings, lively characters and wonderful stories of this 'island village' three new heritage walk trails (with 35 interpretive panels) have been built. Each trail starts and finishes at the Old Guildford Courthouse (Visitor Centre).

Well worth the wandering

The locals have made this a really interesting walk when visiting Guildford. The signs and information was fascinating, and the historic buildings and streetscape preserved.

Walked around this suburb of Perth with a lovely park with huge gum trees as the centrepiece. Lots of relatively old buildings including some art deco.Lots of antique/junk shops full of things from home.!!!wish we'd had more time to explore this interesting area.

Took advantage of a stunning winter day of the type Perth does so well and played tourist in my own city. Sandwich and water bottle stashed in the day pack usually reserved for travel involving a plane, I jumped in the Midland line train to Guildford. A short stroll from the train station to the visitor's centre to collect my... More

Although I have lived in WA for a considerable time and love Guildford, I have never taken the time to find out about its history. The staff at the visitor centre (the Old Court House) were very helpful and gave my elderly sister and I some walk-trail options. We opted for the shorter walk around Guildford so that we could... Easy walk on more or less flat terrain, a few interesting sign boards describe the early days of the town site.

The history of Guildford has been overlooked in the settlement of WA. It was, previously unknown to me, one of the three original settlement in WA along with Fremantle and Perth. It was the farm sector.

I stopped in at the visitor centre and grabbed the brochure showing me the heritage walk trail, and ended up walking all 3 trails in an hour. I found the plaques along the way helpful in providing a history of Guildford. Unfortunately some of the sites where buildings once stood are not easily identifiable to the once historic buildings. It's... More

Went here with friends. Had lunch at padburys which was delicious and then went on a couple of the walks available . The old buildings were well explained and bridge workers on the old bridge there were very knowledgeable about the history of the area. Visited Rose andCrown hotel which has a fascinating cellar. Well worth the visit and so... More
