In July, strawberries get ripen in Finland and the family owned garden gives the opportunity to pick strawberry by own hand. In addition, eating strawberry during picking is free of charge. Minimum payment is 5 euro per person if anyone buy less than 5 euro fruits/ vegetables. Strawberry price: 5.9eur/kg if you pick by yourself. You can collect green peas, raspberry, potato, fresh onion etc too. The authority allows visitor only by pre appointment. Better to make a call to confirm an appointment to visit on desired time and date. On weekdays, they allow upto 6 pm to pick up berries. There is a small transport van to carry back and forth people from their cash counter to field for free of cost. Without appointment, the authority may refuse visitor to enter their garden. About 150 names are accepted everyday as visitor and they expect about 4-5 person with each appointment but it’s better to inform them about the number of person going there if it’s a big group. They sell firm fresh strawberry ice cream as well. But the real summer evening gift is the stunning view of the firm which is exact by the side of lake.

The berry season is over in the farms so the remaining berries that can still be found tend to be quite pricy. Still we bought some raspberries and freshly pressed apple juice. The scenary from the farm is breathtakingly beautiful, picture perfect Finnish countryside with a view of a lake.

Yrjölän Marjatila is one of the most expensive berry picking places i've been to but every year i seem to go there again. Strawberrys, rasberrys, black currants etc. are better than anywhere else. The best what you can pick your self there is corn in late august. I have never eaten so good corn as they grow!!! Just oil and aromat salt on and grill it. Sweet sweet seeet!!! It's a nice place also to just go for a coffee. They have nice icecream they make their own. You can buy other local products also there like, honey, sausages, sheep furs, berry sodas etc. Many people go there with motorbikes because it's located by a road "Maisematie" with beatifull views. They also have some animals like sheeps, chickens and goats to see and feed. Kids like them.

Really the best strawberry ice cream in Finland from the farm’s own strawberries. Or could I say sorbet since only berries and sugar is used to make this gelato! Cannot wait to try the raspberry and black currant one also at some point!
