Picking a nice beach in Crete is not particularly difficult but how one rates them is very much depending on what you want. There is no denying that Vai Beach is lovely; great view, palm trees, golden sand and relatively calm water. The thing I didn't like was how commercialized it has become. There is a €2.50 fee for parking... More

This beach is pretty remote, but well worth the drive to get to. Other reviews describe the beach so no need to add how picturesque it is. There is a good carpark at the entrance, €2.5 for the day, and on the beach a pair of sun loungers are available for €9. The beach also has changing cubicles and showers,... More

Must be visited. Amazingly beautiful with all the palm trees. There were few people here in May. Probably a bit more cramped in the summer

Best way to spend one day with nice and colorful water. Like tip: try to go at first hour from the morning to catch 1-2 hours without people. After this the buses start to arrive and the beach is not so quiet, in specially if that buses are full with Russian people. :))

Vai beach is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. Recommend. Is worth of the drive. Water is clean, on the beach is small sand, also lot of shadow.

We drove to Vai Palm Beach around 8:30 in the morning when staff were preparing for lots of tourists. We didn't have to pay to park, we just walked down onto the beach and enjoyed wading in the sea and taking in the quietness of the morning on the beach. We left around 9:30 just as tourists started to arrive... More

This is the most beautiful beach that I have been to in all of Create. Surrounded by palm trees you can see why they filmed the Bounty advet here. Facilities, excellent changing rooms, toilets, sunbeds water sports, there is also a taverner and a kiosk for refreshments. A must vist if you come to Create.

First time I visited Vai was in 1997 now in 2016 it is spoiled with a big parking lot, shops, and cafeterias and good knows what. Many people, many sunbeds and really not very pleasant. I would not recommend if you live in the Chania area to go the 336 kilometres to Vai if you don’t have other things planned... More
