As part of our 14 day adventure in Italy, we arrived here not knowing what to expect. Aside from the fact the view is spectacular, the story behind this chapel is even more so, The descent of the 268 steps is quite spectacular and the chapel itself is awe inspiring. Going by car they may charge $5 to use the elevator and fee to enter to the eremo if you are not customer on the restaurant. The chapel is small but full of frescos and pieces of art. The sunset here is breathtaking!

Very easy trip across the lake from Stresa to Santa Caterina. Not a tremendous amount to see, but we enjoyed the chapel very much. There is a park on top (take the elevator). We didn't stay there very long.

An enjoyable 15 minute ferry ride from Stresa, this beautiful clings to the rocky cliff face of lake Maggiore It states that their are 80 steps from the ferry wharf to the church, but then there are another 240 steps to the top where you purchase the entry ticket, only to walk back down to enter the church There is an easier way via lift that cost €1 per person each way The church and it’s beautiful fresco’s are worth the trip The buildings construction spanned the 14th and 15th century and this church is definitely worth the trip to see There is a cafe at the top where you can have light refreshments …
