The museum does a great job with what it does. This is a museum for those that have time to wonder slowly, read all thew information and immerse themselves in the history that exists here. For us I think we were just starting to tire and therefore didn't get the maximum benefit. There are some really interesting stories to tell... More

On our final leg of our SA visit spent the day in the Port Adelaide area visited the South Australia Maritime Museum. Excellent displays from local and Australian sailing history and with Port Adelaide's history it's right on the Ports door step.

A very interesting museum, particularly if you have relatives who emigrated to Australia. Interesting exhibits and you can search the databases for passenger entries into the country. Well worth a visit.

Visited here today and was very impressed with the museum. I only spent about an hour here, but you could easily spend half a day looking at all the displays. Well worth a look. Also, a good discount is offered (25%) if you visit one of the other museums, namely the rail or aviation and get your guide stamped.

A great place to visit . the whole area has many well restored buildings and the Maritime Museum itself is great . A great insight into South Australian history up to about the 1960 's. For an extra dollar you can climb the lighthouse . ( don't go on a hot day because it is made of steel and gets... More
