We have been yesterday in this place. This tomb of the emperor is the farthest and most beautiful. Small, decorated with mosaic and inside there is a gilded royal box. The tomb is guarded by a small army of people, horses and elephants. Go from...More

A beautiful place. It does indeed have a lot of steps, but it's worth visiting. The statues are fun to see as well! Be sure to get a combo ticket for the Imperial Palace in Hue plus this tomb and Minh Mang Tomb.

The more steps there are the more hated the Emperor. Suffice to say there are a lot of steps so come to your own conclusions. You have to be able to walk up a lot of steps for this one and I suggest you get...More

I was quite blown away with the mix in European and Chinese influence on the architecture of the tomb - it's one of a kind. The tomb hall was rich in detail and was so beautiful to look at. I think this is a must...More

Rented a scooter and drove out to this tomb, mostly on a hunch. Very impressive site with a lot of buildings, status and stairs. You should be prepared to work your calves as you will encounter a couple of very steep stairs to reach first...More

I could have spent longer at this huge Tomb. It was well worth seeing and understanding the history and trials of imperial Vietnam.

Impressive architecture, if not a little out of the way. Worth a visit if timer permits. The chambers were pretty.

Strangely the Khai Dinh tomb, which according to our Vietnamese guide, was the most liked of all imperial tombs amongst Europeans reminded me of Versailles; not because of similarities in decoration (In fact these are totally different), but because, like Versailles, it is too kitschy...More

Compared to the spacious layout of Minh Manh Tomb, this 12th emperor's tomb reflects the loss of fortune & prestige, built on a small plot of hillside (tiny by royal standards) using cheap ugly gray concrete exteriors and gaudy ceramic mosaic interiors. No depth, no...More

You can arrange a private car/taxi to chauffeur you around to all these locations. This can easily be arranged with help from your hotel receptionist or one of the travel agencies in town (VN travel for instance). I think... More

All the tombs are near each other and to Hue city, at most 10-15km each leg. We paid 550k for a driver to take us to three tombs and wait 30min for us at each, about 3 hours total.
