My wife and I visited Belsay Castle and we were not disappointed. The staff of English Heritage were very friendly and helpful. Although the Hall and the Castle are just ruins they provide a lovely backdrop to the unusual Gardens, which were kept in immaculate...More

Take care on the spiral staircase and keep to the outside; but its well worth the effort to see the views from the top!

This is a beautiful place. Had a lovely day here. Coffee shop, gift shop, easy walking, beautiful flowers, obviously better visited in spring/ summer to get the best of the flowers

Visiting Belsay Hall you are invited to walk through the quarry gardens to visit the older castle buildings. Its well worth the effort! Largely ruined castle with added wings but great to explore and the quarry gardens are amazing.

Went during easter with my family, great value place to visit, the guides in the shop were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, the gardens were lovely and the house very very interesting. I would most definitely visit again even if just to walk the dogs.

Owned by English Heritage the castle adjoins the newer Belsay Hall (see separate review) and is included in the entrance price. It is reached by a walk through a garden from the hall. It's certainly not suitable for those with accessibility issues but is set...More
