About
Christy Barry and his partner Sheila have entertained friends and musicians at their home for many years, sitting around the fire playing music and telling stories. Although the pub sessions are extremely popular they realized that many of their visitors preferred to listen to traditional music in the intimate environment of their home. As a result of this they decided to open up their atmospheric home to visitors so they can experience local Irish music in the relaxed surroundings of their home. Christy talks and discusses the history of traditional Irish music and plays great tunes. Visitors can enjoy the experience of visiting a local home, enjoying local company and listening to a good traditional music session around the fire. Sheila is an artist and her works surround the rooms in the house creating a truly art home atmosphere.

So much fun to experience music like this. Like being personally entertained in your own living room, except it theirs! Don’t miss it!

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Music House. We were warmly greeted and then seated in our hosts’ home to experience an evening of authentic Irish music, humor and stories of Irish music. In addition to music by the host and his long time friend and colleague in music, one of the members of the audience sang a heartfelt song of old Ireland and a neighbor danced to a couple of reels. It was very entertaining and fun.
Light snacks were served and we felt very welcome by the focus the host had to our dietary restrictions and preferences. It was a lovely evening that we will long remember.

We spent our entire 16 day trip looking for "trad" at pub after pub. Finally found it here! Lovely, intimate experience in their home hearing wonderful music and enjoying stories of the music and the people. Also, just the right length of time for the evening.

My favorite experience in doolin! It was a very nice experience meeting such talented poeple and seeing how much music means to them! The history behind the music is very interesting, and some sad moments that make you appreciate how far the Irish have come.
They played very beautifully!
My son had found a small instrument earlier that day at a thrift shop and took it with him to show them. When he showed Chris the instrument he asked my son to join them for a session! My son was soo stoked and the other guests really enjoyed seeing that wholesome experience.

We traveled to Doolin from the U.S. because our Dad wanted to immerse himself in Irish Music. Doolin Music House entirely delivered. Our evening was fun, educational, and the music could make you weep with joy and sorrow. More than just entertaining, Christy, James and Sheila made it a night to treasure.

The Doolin music house is a must do
experience while visiting Doolin! It was an absolute pleasure to hear Christy and his friends play local tunes. The pride and respect Christy has for music is shown while he plays and also through the way he tells stories. It was a true honor to attend the session. We also really enjoyed getting to talk with Sheila. She provided an assortment of local cheese and crackers that were fantastic along with wine to sip on throughout the event. This was a true highlight of our honeymoon and next time we're back in town this will be the number one thing to do on our list!

Doolin Music House is a must if you are visiting Doolin or any of the surrounding towns in Clare. Sheila was a fantastic host and made sure we were well looked after during our visit. Christy and James are a great duo and it was incredibly endearing listening to their stories of years past accompanied with traditional Irish music. If you’re looking for an authentic Irish experience with some fun, laughter, and history, then you must book Doolin Music House. They’ve also got everything sorted so that you are distanced from others who are not in your group and with sanitiser etc about the place.
A tip: if you’re not driving I recommend you book a taxi well in advance unless you’re within walking distance. This is the case in most rural towns in Ireland.

We had a brilliant night listening to the music and the history of the songs, as well as local history and the funny anecdotes that Christy told us. I'd definitely recommend it if you're in or near Doolin.
