For those people complaining it was not worth the visit, I feel sorry for them. This place is absolutely magical and the family who own and maintain it (the same family since the revolution) obviously care a great deal about their responsibility for looking after...More

Thank you for these kind words ! It is always nice to see that some visitors actually notice and value the efforts that the owners have been investing in the restauration for decades. We sure hope to see you soon at the abbey !

In its hayday this abbey housed over 100 monks and was a theological centre for the region. During the French Revolution it suffered and was partially destroyed leaving the amazing structures still to be viewed. It is well worth a visit with extensive grounds to...More

Lovely garden and buildings, we spent a few hours here, well worth taking a picnic. There is a great mix of history and info and the kids didn't get bored (which was an added bonus !)

I felt quite sorry for the two work experience language students tied to the entrance desk because they had no internet and not a lot to do. The Abbaye is nicely situated, is very peaceful and has a wonderful history, but not enough is made...More

We saw this abbaye on our way from Cognac to Saintes. We were dissappointed because the website makes it seem a lot larger than it is. We spent maybe 45min-1hour exploring the building and the grounds. There is only really one room that is worth...More

lovely position, very historic and has occasional concerts in the evenings. Musical events take place regularly within the actual buildings and gardens.

This was among several places we have visited with high expectations and been very disappointed. There were no facilities, not even a coffee shop. The staff seemed more interested in themselves than the visitors, but we have come to expect this in France.
