I found this walk fascinating, it becomes enclosed by fences for the second half of the walk! I really enjoyed it, I wouldn't like to do it alone or in the evening/when it's dark though. The scenery is beautiful .

Barnane is only a short walk from Fermoy Town Square. There is ample parking, New Public Toilets, a Tourist office, a hotel and restaurants on the way. There are sightseeing tours daily on the river, from the rowing club to Michael Flatley's Castlehyde Mansion. This weekend has the Operation Mayday events taking place, with kayaking on Saturady afternoon, followed by... More

When I was a child it seemed like such a long walk, but it actually isn't and the scenery is stunning down there, between the little well, the river and the fields, well worth going down memory lane.

This is a very peaceful walk. It takes you along the banks of the River Blackwater. Perfect to get away from noisy traffic.

Pleasant walk that starts along the river bank and continues through woods. The walk can be extended by including the forest park after you hit the road.

Following heavy winter rains the Blackwater was in fine flood so this riverside stroll was a bit damp and muddy but I had the place all to myself. A great ramble in any weather and especially so today. You used to be able to walk eastwards on the other side of the bridge towards Carrackabrick Viaduct but construction work associated... More

I have relatives who live along the river. It is a beautiful walk. You can feed the ducks, watch the rowers from the rowing club, walk past the style into the pastures and along the shores of the river for a long ways. Very quiet and peaceful.

This is a lovely walking area along the banks of the river blackwater . At the end of the walk one can continue along the river bank for about 2 miles until you come to the woods. On a nice day bring a picnic sit by the river and enjoy nature, watch the birds and the fish jumping. At the... More

Proceeding up-river (away from the bridge), you will pass the Fermoy Youth Centre on your left. The Youth Centre used to house a ballroom and cinema but, in recent years, has become a sporting venue and infrequently used theatre and concert venue. Passing by the Youth Centre, the next public premises is the Fermoy Rowing Club, built in 1984 and... More
