My wife and I recently drove on Military Road whilst going to see Lough Tay and I have to say it was a great drive. There are plenty of stops for photo opportunities as well as there are plenty of nature walks if you’re interested...More

Has a dark beginning as it was built to flush out the rebels of the 1798 rebellion. This winding road can be very challenging, with it many twists reaching more than 500 meters. It is easily one of our most favourite drives to do within...More

This is not what people think of when thinking of Ireland. Unique landscape worth the drive; especially from/to Glendalough.

If you happen to visit Ireland and hire a car and are particularly interested in Irish history, take a drive on the Military Road running from Dublin, 34 miles through the spectacular Wicklow Mountains, right up to the borders of County Carlow. This road, besides...More

Had so much fun driving this road. Look out for the Garda at the Stop sign monitoring that you stop.

Great ride through the Wicklow Park with beautiful views of a few lakes, sod, and heather! Great drive, if you are not scared of the curvy naroow roads.

We spent our last day driving the military road in the Wicklow mountains and stopping off for photo opps. Signage is sporadic and roads are narrow with not many places to pull in so drive with care. I wouldn't attempt the drive unless a lovely...More

This was what I was hoping to find when I came to Dublin for business. Just as great of scenery as I had hoped. Drive is an adventure with narrow roads and few places to pull off but very much worth it.

We drove the Military Road while traveling from Powerscourt to Glendalough. Because of the rain and fog, we couldn't see for most of the trip. The higher up you are in Ireland, the more chance of rain. The times we COULD see, the views were...More

This is a really old road that winds through the Dublin and Wicklow mountains. The scenery is fantastic and it's definitely worth the time for visitors to Dublin, but if snow is in the forecast DO NOT GO. The road has only been marginally improved...More

It isn't very far at all. Just follow the signs and there will be a small station to pay a minimal fee and the Powerscourt Falls is beautiful.

The road does not have cycle lanes, or even a hard shoulder. It is quite narrow (one lane in each direction). There are plenty of curves and bends and very few long straight stretches. The spectacular scenery can be... More

There are portions where you can walk, once you keep to the side to let the cars pass by. Sadly, there are no public transport that will bring you to this area.
