You may think that doing the tour and tasting virtually would not compare to an actual visit. I was more than pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Comfortably sitting at home with access to SIX experts from the distillery and four wonderful tastings (5cl bottles). The pace was great, the hosts convivial - no judgements were made on anyone's preference for whiskey, which showed these folks want to be open to new and seasoned whiskey fans. Most importantly, the quality of the whiskies was 1st class! You may say they are premium priced but whiskies like these are for occasional sipping and you have to consider the long journey and care it takes to get it to your glass. If you have never liked whiskey, give these Fercullen whiskies a go, you may be pleasantly surprised.

The entire tour was fabulous from start to finish. Our tour guide, Adam was very knowledgeable and his enthusiasm for the history, production and the product itself was infectious. Whether you are a connoisseur, or someone who just enjoys whiskey or a novice there is so much to be learned on this tour. What we took away from the tour is that the dedication and patience involved in the production of Fercullen whiskey is impressive and what looks like an art form is down to years of experience. You get that from the tour itself, how the whiskey is made, distilled and casked and have a greater appreciation of the tastings at the end of the tour (adding a drop of water to whiskey can change it’s personality to suit your own tastes). Very interesting tour, informative and questions are encouraged. And the distillery itself is in a beautiful location. We are returning home with Fercullen 10 and 14. We will be back. Really would like to do the food pairings event. Thanks Adam for the fabulous tour and the chat afterwards during the tasting. And thanks to all the staff we met along the way. Friendly and welcoming. Continued success!!

We're just back from a wonderful tour and tasting at the Powerscourt Distillery. A lovely way to spend and hour or so, especially if you're interested in the Irish whiskey industry. If you've done similar tours before, you might be interested to know you actually get to see the barrels in storage. Can't recommend the tasting with food pairing enough. The food is really delicious, and showcases some of the best local produce. Max, our guide, was really knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend the time with. Whether you're a novice or a connoisseur, he keeps the tour to your pace. There's no judgement if you're at all worried you won't like the whiskeys, which I was a bit concerned about (though it's worth mentioning, I didn't leave a drop behind!)
