It worth going there for a lovely view, and if you can climb the steps behind the castle you will not regret it. However the museum is not the greatest I have seen but still interesting.

A remote location but with great views overlooking the lough. A well laid out museum with a short video to give an overview of the history. Lots of exhibits to show how life was like at the fort. Café on site for refreshments afterwards.

Arrived when the main building was closed ,but you can still wander around and marvel at the old buildings ,be ready to climb a lot of steps to get to the top of the site ,but it is worth it

Not open during our visit even though there were about 20 cars in the car park so perhaps it should be open at the weekends even during winter? Lots of nice walks and stunning scenery with old buildings displaying amazing patina. Some of them are...More
