Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I'm sure Youghal doesn't feature on may tourists' trial, but it should. The whole town is really fascinating and one could easily spend a whole day exploring. Far more to look at than the likes of the Rock of Cashel or Blarney Castle.

We were two adults and two teenagers and all of us thoroughly enjoyed the Heritage Trail. The very nice and helpful staff in the Tourist Office gave us maps and info. The free Heritage Exhibition in the Tourist Centre was beautifully presented. The trail was signposted really well and each heritage building had excellent explanations. The story of the diverse history of Youghal was told through its historical remains and we had a very pleasant and informative visit.

Very easy to handle for young and old in terms of the stroll, and beautiful sites to see, from the Clock Gate, the Red House, the Almhouses, the majestic Tynte's Castle, and St. Mary's Collegiate Church, among others. Interesting historical information imparted by the town crier himself, Mr. Clifford Winser, dressed in period garb. About two hours and very pleasant all around. Luckily, great weather to match!

I am not happy to write about it, but my last experience from visiting Youghal was very disgusting !!! Dog poop on the footpaths ,street ,beach and boardwalk . My child was playing with the sand on the beach and had hands dirty with the poop .Bicycle tyres dirty as well . Everyone should be able to enjoy this beautiful place ,but it is hard when you have to be careful not to step on the poop .This place is like minefield of poop ! It looks like dog owners are complete ignorants. Time to do something about it ! They should start thinking about other people especially kids and people on the wheelchairs . At the moment this place is not safe !

The Heritage Trail is a great way to see a quick slice of the history of Youghal. Among other sights, you see the city gates, the old jail, and the walkway to the cells. There is a garden (complete with cannon), and of course the city walls. A nice hike with informative placards with historical information.

Youghal has a very good app that is free to download. It gives maps to the town and soundbites about all the different locations on the Heritage Trail.

At the suggestion of the staff at the Old Imperial Hotel, we took the self your of Youghal. We were fortunate to encounter a very knowledgeable guide who told us much history of the church, the wall and the garden.

The free app takes you around the heritage sites in Ypughal. It is easy to use and very informative. Alternatively you can just get a map, but you won't have the added bonus of the commentary which really brings the trail to life

Pick up the leaflet on the heritage trail at the Visitors Centre on the quay. There are guided tours, but it is easy to follow the trail yourself, and each point of interest has an easily readable poster. It is a fascinating step back into the 13th century. Explore the city's ancient business and social history. Allow one and a half hours and just follow the map and the numbers. You will come away with a new respect and knowledge of an historic sea port. Children will enjoy following the trail and you can stop and eat or rest on the way.
