Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a beautiful place to vist, especially with children, they have a shallow pebbly lake which the kids are able to enjoy while having lunch, I would recommend a change of clothes or pajamas for children to be cosy going home in, carvings of animals are hidden around to find I've vist more than once and still feels like there is so much more to explore, they have toilet and picnic tablets located at the car park, pathways are decents so normal shoes perfect to wear.

An absolute must see, a hidden jewel. This beautiful forest has very little foot traffic, as it is not a paid tour to push people to a location. The original Cabra Castle site, with an amazing bridge, waterfalls along the stream, and tons of lush ferns, vines and towering trees. €5 to park is certainly with it!

Beautiful trails and bridges. We really enjoyed the new discoveries. Easy to find. We would love to visit again and because one visit is not enough.

I had a wonderful afternoon walking the various trails throughout Dun na Ri forest Park. It's a stunning place, as beautiful as it is peaceful and there are a huge variety of tracks by the river, around a lake and through the forest.
The walking is not particularly difficult but there are plenty of steps and hills to keep you honest! The river walk is probably the nicest of the 4 marked trails but the village trail is really nice too. Look out for the ruins of the Barracks, Cabra Cottage, the Ice House and Flemings Castle.
The lake is lovely too with a fair few ducks swimming about. Huge variety of trees and the place was alive with birdsong - even in January!
There's a big car park with a €5 fee to enter but be warned, it's an automatic barrier that no longer takes coins so you'll have to tap your card.
There are toilets and picnic benches as well as a food truck serving crepes and hot drinks.
A wonderful place, one I'd heartily recommend and will aim to return to as soon as I can.

This was our first stop on a week long trip to Ireland and ended up being my favorite. It was a beautiful setting with bridges, springs, paths, forest, and flora. It was an easy walk with a few stairs, but my 70+ parents were with us and had no problems. We took some stunning photos and enjoyed the short hike. It had everything, including old structures and a lake with ducks. You should definitely stop here! (There was even a toilet if you needed it)

A look back in time with old ruins within. Perfectly signposted throughout. A wonderful experience, serene and in touch with nature

Visited this forest on Sunday evening..the grounds are well maintained & as the bluebells are in bloom, it looked really lovely.Pathways are nice for meandering on.
2 issues as mentioned in other posts:-
To gain entry to the park in a car you really need coins making up €5.00..contactless card option did not work for us & we had no cash! So we parked up the road and walked in.
Also signing of the walks is very poor..signs for different walks ( eg brown walk) in one location & saw no other sign mentioning “brown walk” again so we weren’t sure where we were!
Both items easily remedied and would make for a better experience.
But I would go back again!

Lovely relaxing and picturesque family walk but the signage for a Coillte Forest Park is very poor, way below the standard of other parks we have visited. It costs €5 to enter but this is extortinate as you would have to be good at orienteering to get around the park.
We had expected a very well mapped and signed forest walk, however we were disappointed. The map at the entrance does not match the few non-descript arrows we came across. We will return but increased directional maintenance by the regional forest manager is required.
