Amazing artwork on display and Kevin, our tour guide, kept us well informed about it all. We’ll worth going off the beaten track to find. Lovely coffee shop to top it off. - TheBeckhams421London, United Kingdom147 contributionsWorth a trip to Ireland just to tour this houseI’ve visited most of the important galleries and historic houses in Ireland and the U.K. and this would rank in my top five. We were lucky to join a tour with Jean who knew the artist when he was alive. An absolute wealth of knowledge delivered in an accessible way. The perfect guided tour. The house is absolute revelation, being full of interesting paintings and was decorated by the artist himself in bright and beautiful colours. And in June the gardens seemed like paradise. Don’t miss.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 June 2023

So interesting and informative, a real treat. Gardens look lovely so we will be back when it's dry! Lovely cage too with home made jam for sale. The tour takes about 90 minutes, and needs to be booked in advance. A lovely setting - the gardens and grounds are worth a walk around.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 July 2023

Well worth the visit, the grounds are fantastic the cafe is very homely. Our tour guide (from Glasgow) was just brilliant. If you’re in this part of Donegal it’s a must to visit. - NorthStar5421111 contributionAn oasis of peace in DonegalI have visited Glebe House a few times and have strongly recommended it to family and friends. The house and grounds are so beautiful and there is an air of peace and tranquility. Kevin our wonderful guide in the tour of the house left us feeling we will come back!! His love for the artist and the house was palpable. He was so well informed and gave us all the time we needed. We got a real sense of what life was like then and he provided us with little details we never had heard before! Well done and thank you Kevin. Great to have a cafe and gallery and all staff so welcoming. It's definitely top of our list for places to visit.Visited July 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 23 July 2023

In awe of the amazing collection of Derek Hill (reminiscent of Sir John Soanes house in London. Kevin our guide was so interesting. The gardens are wonderful and the Victoria sponge in the tea room was sublime. We shall return. Not to be missed if in the area.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 July 2023
- Liz CGlasgow, United Kingdom42 contributionsWorth more than one visitGlebe House and Gallery is well worth a visit and, indeed, is a place you could return to several times, because there is so much to see and take in. For me, it’s not so much about the art on the walls – although the paintings are of course impressive – but the stories behind the art, the previous owner (Derek Hill), the house itself and the visitors who stayed there. The art also isn’t just the paintings; it’s the wallpaper, the colours, the furniture, the personal objects and the way Derek Hill positioned all of these. (The house is pretty much as he left it in 1981.) Tour guide Kevin is excellent. A visit to the tearoom is a must too – the chocolate brownie is amazing, best I’ve ever tasted! Unfortunately, it rained on both occasions I’ve visited so I did not get a good look around the gardens, but from what I did see they are beautifully well-maintained and colourful.Visited July 2023Written 3 August 2023

The Glebe Gallery and Gardens is a must for everyone. Jean and Gallery staff are so helpful and friendly. The Gardens are beautiful, the wild flower meadows, the bog garden and the New area in the Bog Garden is a fantastic addition. This place us so natural and fair play to the staff of Ryan, the gardener and Martin and Peter. A must to visit if one is on a visit to the Churchill area. There are free Garden Tours conducted by Ryan, the Gardener through the year.

We had a fascinating visit to Glebe House and Gallery, with a splendid tour of the house led by Kevin who gave us a remarkable insight into Derek Hill's life and an encyclopedic background to hundreds of pictures and artifacts throughout the house. The additional exhibition of paintings by Carey Clarke was also really excellent. We enjoyed a walk through the grounds and gardens. This visit was the unexpected highlight of our holiday in Donegal.

We were on a break from our lectures and decided to go to Derek hills house for a look. Whilst there we were invited to join one of the tours on going. It was extremely informative and intriguing. There are so many hidden gems in the house and I’d definitely go back to learn more !! We had to leave early so only got a tour of the downstairs but we then went back the next day. They were extremely accommodating and allowed us to return and finish the rest of the tour. We had Genevieve and Kevin who were extremely informative. It was Genevieve first tour and she was amazing. We learned so much and had a bit of craic. 10/10 would recommend

A fascinating tour of Derek Hill's house in Donegal, each room was full of his personal items together with artworks collected/given over the years, giving a real lived-in feeling to the place. This was helped by the excellent knowledgeable guide who brought the house and painter/collector to life.
The well laid out garden down to the lake is also a pleasant stroll.

This tour was much more than expected. Overwhelmed with the wonderful collected treasures that showed the character of the artist Derek Hill. We had a very knowledgeable guide, Kathleen, who lead us through the house and pointed us to some of the amazing items. Definitely worth a revisit. Highly recommended.

Excellent guided tour around the house. Our guide Kevin was very knowledgeable about every aspect of the house & Derek Hill, those who visited him there, & particularly about the many paintings & artefacts. Would highly recommend a visit to the Glebe. The gardens are beautiful & a trip to the cafe is also to be recommended.

we really loved the tour of Glebe House done by an enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide. The decor and the artworks were all fabulous, ranging from Renoit, Picasso and Renoir, through to lesser-known artists and Tory Island artists that he had talent spotted in brought on. lots to feast on here ( and in the tea rooms afterwards) Even the dog enjoyed a stroll in the gardens, although he was supposed to stay on the lead
