Wonderful gardens and brisk 4KM walk to the castle. Entrance to the park and all hiking plus the gardens are free of charge. Some of the most breathtaking photos we have taken.

Disappointed by this place. The midges were really bad and I was bitten to pieces. The organisers advised not to get a ticket for the castle because they too busy!! There’s gardens and walks, but really, I was expecting better. Sorry, but it was rubbish...More

Nice castle located in a very scenic National Park. Included with OPW heritage card. Shuttle recommended from visitor center to castle. No pictures at all allowed on tour. Not even with flash turned off. Gardens very nice and worth walking around.

After a few missed turns we arrived at Glenveagh Castle. Highly recommend taking the guided tour and then stopping for a delicious tea break after. Scenery stunning and unexpected.

Beautifully situated castle with lovely gardens. Enjoyed talking with a gardener about the history, not to mention the plants and flowers. Can walk 4km or take a bus. Tea houses at both the visitors center and castle; same operator, so if you missed yummy chicken...More

We were luck as we had a great weather the day we went. If you like a great walk in awesome scenery this is the place for you. We decided to picnic there and it was so nice.

I think you can drive up, though probably following the bus as they are very safety conscious. Try phoning and ask if it’s possible
