This was a blast. We hadn’t previously associated Donegal with foodies, but here came Sue and Donegal Food Tours to enlighten us. Relaxed, fun, delicious. Met nice people, got introduced to some excellent, creative cooking, and felt pampered the whole time. A pleasure.

My wife and I have been on two of the Donegal Food Tour experiences. In early June we went on the tour from Letterkenny. First stop, the Lemon Tree where we were served lots of tasty dishes. On to the Grape and Grain in the Downings with samples of beer and more food. Third stop was Hooked at the Boardwalk where we had Fish coujons, mussles etc and the fourth stop was at Coffee Time in Kilmacrennan where we had buttermilk, home-made butter and carrageen moss desert. A great way to see around Donegal in a clean, comfortable coach and a friendly driver. Sue was a great host who has knowledge of the best places to go and eat in Donegal

I was a bit dubious at first but then I though live life to the max and go on the Donegal Food Tour. The whole idea came as a going away present for a colleague who was leaving our organisation. (retirement) We started with "High Tea" in Castlegrove House outside Letterkenny. High class Tea it was too, no booze! Lots of nice tea, coffee and the most deliciously sinful cakes. Then it was back onto the bus which picked us up no going to a depot etc. Onto the "Glen Bar", for sea food and as it has celebrated 250 years they had their own Gin. We of course sampled. There was loads to eat and like in Castle grove house the Coleiac's were catered for too. There was a lovely open fire and it was hard to leave. Back on the road again this time to Carrigart for "Crepes", which were filled with seafood to the brim. More Drinks here and again we found it hard to leave, "the Grape and Grain" as it is called. Up to Letterkenny for our final stop which was all drink at the "Kinnegar Brewery". Like the other venues the staff were more than helpful and informative in every way. We sampled each of the main brands on offer here and got to see the brewing process underway even though it was a Saturday. We finished up by 7pm having started our tour at 11.30 am. It was not too long and the guide and bus driver were very patient and helpful with us all. I would recommend the Donegal Food Tour Co. They do other routes as well and each client group can have a "tailor made" tour of their choosing. It was very reasonable and we all came back happy. ( possibly after the Kinneager tour)
