Letterkenny Park or Ballymacool Park is a grand park on the outskirts of the town. It is part of the former Ballymacool Estate now taken over by the local council.
It starts off on the flat and climbs up towards Ballymacool wood. There is ample parking with public toilets.
The views are spectacular looking down on the river Swilly as it makes its way towards Lough Swilly and into the sea.
In these troubling times it is nice to be able move around and especially for those with small kids. At the moment it has escaped Covid 19 restrictions. Best of all it is free.

Absolutely fantastic the scenery is great and the park is fantastic you could spend hours at this place cause there are a trail to follow not only that there is a beautiful old house that is a part of history and it is spooky at the same time.

The park itself is great, facilities are good for the kids. I own a dog myself and its great you can bring the dog but I've noticed loads of dog mess in the grass where kids should be playing. Obviously some dog owners don't bother cleaning up after themselves, I think if it persists the council should look at banning dogs like our other town park ! Its not fair on the kids !!

This is a beautifully maintained park. It is a pleasure to walk around in it and there is an excellent play area for children. A football pitch is also available within the park.

This town park is not what it is supposed to be as it would be in any other city. It is on the outskirts of the town and therefore nearer to the country. This is not a bad thing as you have the peace and quiet and the views of farm animals encroaching on the park which you don't get anywhere else.
It is quite steep in places for the best views of the River Swilley belown winding it's way towards Letterkenny from Glen Swilley itself. It is a tough climb up to the top if you are pushing a buggy. A real challenge if you are a wheelchair user but worth the pull up the hill for the view.
For kids there is a fine playground for them and there are public toilets nearby for little people who may need them. The shrubs and grounds are well maintianed and a credit to the town.

Ballymacool park is a pleasant park that I find perfect for walking my dog. When you get to the top of the you have lovely views and along the way you can read lots of interesting historic information posts.

Within the park there is a kids play park and a recreational football/basketball area to play in. A number of Picnic tables can also be found in the park. Perfect for an evening stroll.
