Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Some people love waterfalls others aren't so fussed. If you are the former then this is worth seeing and you can get some great photos. However it can get busy as it is directly next to road and many tourists come here. You may have to wait a few minutes for others to take photos.

On the way to Maghera Beach, Ardara, Co Donegal you pass this splendid waterfall just by the road. It is certainly worth stopping to marvel at the clear rushing water and pool.
If you fancy a cup of coffee and nice cakes on this road do stop at The Crafty Baker. It is a small hut on the side of the road at Laconnel and the very friendly lady serves drinks and home made cakes and scones!

Beautiful waterfall right by the road. No need to walk or even get out of the car, but to enjoy the sound, you should take a walk around. When we went the road coming in from one side was closed so we had to take the long way around but it was beautiful scenery.

I arrived around midday and there were 4 cars there already. I stayed probably over an hour, as I am a keen amateur photographer. On average the number of cars there during my time there, stayed at no more that 4. So there was plenty opportunity to enjoy and capture the place. Well worth a visit. Load and peaceful at the same time. Magical too. Probably would be even better in winter after a few days of rain. By the way, the road to the spot is a little narrow.

This waterfall is right at the roadside a short distance from Magheda Caves. Very impressive volume of water falling to the base of the rock face. It was referred to as the secret waterfall by a local. We travelled across the Glebe to visit it from Sliabh Liag. Truly fabulous scenery on the drive across. This is a must see.

The views driving down to this area are one of the best in Ireland especially on a sunny day! You just have to drive slowly and stop when meeting another car as its so narrow but its only 7miles to the beach and well worth the visit. There are undercurrents in the water that change at certain times of the year. This is why the locals dont swim there but go to Narin, Portnoo and Rosbeg beach which are much safer.

Well worth a look as it is lovely, if you like waterfalls. It's just by the side of the road. A little pull in for a few cars. I suspect its overwhelmed in summer. No facilities at all and to some extent the better for it.
A few mins drive up the road is the most gorgeous beach

Assaranca waterfall is just outside Ardara in west Donegal. On the way from Ardara to Killybegs there is a signpost indicating the road to the right, marked "Caves" and "Waterfall". The waterfall has a little stopping place in front, calling it a car park would be too grand. The waterfall itself is just lovely, and as a bonus on a rainy day, the volume of water seems to treble.
The caves are situated on Maghera Strand which is beautiful, huge, deserted and made from fine white sand. Follow the road on round beyond the waterfall. You may need to pay a couple of euro for the car park as it is on private land.

We stopped by on a sunny day in Co. Donegal after going shopping in a local weaving factory store. Wonderful waterfall. Easy parking

Our family [adult children and a son-in-law] rallied out to the waterfall [two cars] and enjoyed the drive out, the waterfall itself, and then the beach area across the road. It would be neat to see the area when the tide was in but at this time, the tide was out. It was quite windy which resulted in sand blowing in our faces in one area but if you enjoying driving on Ireland's rural roads and seeing Ireland's natural scenic beauty, you'll enjoy this area. I'll add some pictures later.
