This place is over rated. People lighting fires in the middle of the ruins. Not even a Costa coffee in sight.

Great place for a walk in all weather. Castle has nooks and crannies to explore. If visiting be sure and look for the ice house a little way down stream from the caslte.

Caareys Castle is great fun for all, the kids love playing around the castle. And you have the river there for lovely photos.
Plus the forest that surrounds it.

Magical experience!

We had a fantastic time here. The kids’ imaginations were sparked by the ruins, and there was a bunch of exploring and climbing. The walk to the castles featured gorgeous flora and birdsongs. Coming back along the stream had its own charm.

Ramble through the woods to discover this old abandoned homestead , a child's delight to explore a magic castle hidden in the woods.

A short wander through a mixed woodland to reveal Careys Castle.

A lovey flat walk from the carpark to the Ruin will take you about 10 or 15 mins. Plenty of flora and fauna and picnic tables. Within Waterford but closer to Clonmel, great place to unwind and better for Photographers...

Lot of fun

This castle is hidden in the woods. Accessible only by foot. You'll have a nice walk through the wood to find the castle at the end of the little wood road. There is lots to see a little stream is beside the cattle and a grotto.

Nature at its best
Mar 2018 • Family
A walk of about 500m takes you to Carey’s Castle, through mixed woodland and there is a pleasant walking path along the river bank for about 600m.

There are about 2 km of forest walks. Along the riverside walk there is a profusion of birch, oak, beech and ash with some spruce and larch. On the south side of the castle in what was the walled garden is a stand of Japanese larch and one of Old Scots pine. Other flora, woodrush, sorrel, grasses, ferns and sage. Well worth a visit and bring a picnic !!!
