Lovely staff &Decor, Ordered Briased beef short rib !! Didn’t think they meant short rib literally ! 4 mouthfuls I was never served such a small portion. Came with rice I couldn’t eat because it was the texture of rice pudding I’m not a big eater but left feeling hungry Didn’t know whether to laugh or complain Ended up having a laugh till we got the bill Ah well, lesson learned Won’t be going back

Food was inedible
Feb 2020 • Couples
The food is overpriced. Tiny portions. The beef sandwich I got was freezing I had to send it back so my partner ate his ribs ( 3 bites and it was gone it was that small ) while I was there with just chips and mayo. No garlic dip?? The food came back again but it was disgusting. This time round they had put the tiniest amount of crispy onions on it that wasn’t on the first one that was supposed to be on it it was almost like an insult. The staff are lovely I feel sorry for them I don’t think the table beside us were happy either. The nice lady host didn’t charge for the wine as a sorry what else could she do. I read the reviews before going but I still wanted to give it a chance and was excited however I could never return. They don’t seem to want to improve judging by the other reviews. I left starving after paying 35 Euro so we went to rocksalt cafe and thankfully they saved the day.

Disappointing again
Feb 2020 • Couples

I was there with my children and husband shortly after the reopening and found it very weak. yesterday valentines day i gave it another chance and confirmed the place is pretty bad. the decor is beautiful, the service is wonderful, but the food is very bad. nice menu but the execution of the food is terrible. I’m not coming back and I’m not indicating.

Underwhelming
Feb 2020 • Friends
Have now been a couple of times separately for coffee, brunch and most recently dinner. Have to say the decor is fabulous and in general a great addition to the village. However on each occasion I felt core elements of the coffee / food offer left me and my fellow guests underwhelmed. ( There’s undoubtedly better coffee in at least 2 other village venues) The dinner menu feels a bit pretentious and unfortunately the 12-hour Braised Beef Short Rib I was served was whilst tasty - was simply cold. My wife had pork belly and had the same complaint.I really hope the team get it right as it would be shame that after such significant investment and thoughtful design that the core offer fails to impress. I’ll wait for a few months before I go back in the hope that Clermont gets it right !

Disappointed
Jan 2020 • Friends
We visited on Friday the 24th January. We were very impressed with the decor and the place was buzzing. Our starters Crab Claws, Prawns and Chowder were good but
our main courses namely Piri Piri Chicken and Featherblade steak were extremely disappointing. The Piri Piri chicken was bland and cold and I personally would not serve it to a guest in my own home. The steak was unbelievably small and at €24 was a disgrace. However the staff were excellent and I did express my disappointment with the Piri Piri and the lovely waitress said she would pass on my comments. I wouldn't rush back as I feel it is poor value for money

Early days but worth trying

Superbly decorated venue - I said wow we are in for a treat here - but it just didn’t life up to expectations- ordered quite expensive prawns at the start with garlic - but no real taste of garlic - main course I ordered pizza - but base was too soft and lacking in real flavour - chips I ordered were too soggy - while staff were excellent and the wine list looked attractive but expensive - my guest felt somewhat similar - lack of puri puri in the chicken and the size of portions was a little underwhelming- maybe we might be back - but either take the pizzas off the menu or cook them with a more harder base

The Chairman's fine dining at The Clermont. 5 Stars. Top Class
Dec 2019
Family pre-Christmas dinner in the new fine dining restaurant at the Clermont “The Chairmans”. Shanahans on the Green is my favourite restaurant in Ireland and “The Chairmans” is modeled on the same impecible format. A fine dining experience based on Ireland’s best quality beef. We had the tasting menu with salmon, goats cheese salad, choice of steak and an Eton mess style desert. Absolutely top class. Kids were able to order from the downstairs menu so perfect for them. Super wine, ambience and service. Personal visits to the table from the head chef and manager Ken. A great experience and perfect start to the Christmas season.

No service
Dec 2019
Called into the newly renovated Clemont on Sunday. Looking for some food and we were told that they couldn’t cater for us. No amount of empty tables to be seen. Very disappointing, didn’t even ask us to wait a few minutes. So disappointing as we were regulars with the previous owners. Would not be in hurry back.
