I took the family to see as much of Ireland as we could in a week. Brian from Glengarriff was our guide. He did a wonderful job of getting us from place to place and advising us on where to eat and sights to see. He was enjoyable to be around and fit right into our family. The van was very comfortable for the six of us. I highly recommend Glengarriff Tours.

My friends and I booked a driver for a long weekend thru Glengarriff Tours. Gene, the owner, personally handled our request. He contacted me prior to the trip to discuss our itinerary and helped us to maximize our time. He’s an excellent driver, a knowledgeable guide, and has a great sense of humor. I would highly recommend Glengarriff Tours, as an alternative to renting a car, for any one who wants to customize their itinerary and see Ireland stress free at their own pace. You will not be disappointed!

Gene and Brian of Glengarriff Tours know Ireland. They know the popular tourist spots, and they know out-of-the-way places that are not in any tour book. Equally important, they know where the best pubs/restaurants and B&B/hotels are located. With their knowledge, they provided a once in a lifetime experience for my daughters and me that would not have been possible on our own. I told Gene what we were interested in seeing and he took care of everything. He arranged sightseeing tours that showed us Ireland; not just a bunch of tourist sites. Some of the tours we would never have known about, and if we did, we would not have been able to schedule them on our own. His selection of pubs/restaurants and B&B/hotels were spot on, and he made all our reservations.
Brian met us at the Shannon airport (Gene was attending a funeral) and was our guide for two days. Brian is a knowledgeable, professional driver/guide. He is also a cheerful, attentive person with a great sense of humor. We were not happy for Brian to leave us because we were not sure anyone could be as good a guide.
We need not have worried. Gene also was knowledgeable, professional, cheerful, attentive, and his wonderful quick wit kept us entertained. Gene met up with us in Dingle, and was with us for the remainder of our trip. We never felt rushed, because he was able to adapt if we wanted more time anywhere, or needed to make un-scheduled stops. He constantly checked in on our needs and interests, and made adjustments along the way!
We even met Gene’s family in their hometown of Glengarriff. Gene’s wife, Maya, was a warm, welcoming, perfect hostess. Gene’s son, Eamonn, was my host at the Glengarriff golf course. It was a rare, truly personalized experience to be treated like family members.
If you are going to Ireland, let Gene, at Glengarriff Tours, do the planning and take the anxiety out of the road travel.
A WORD OF CAUTION: Driving on the left side of narrow roads with many round a bouts, makes auto travel in Ireland difficult at best. Meeting oncoming tour buses and trucks that take up all of their lane, plus a little of yours, makes it harrowing. And, you have to do this without getting lost. Do not try to drive yourself; let a professional guide plan your trip and do the driving.

My husband and I, along with our good friends, recently traveled in Ireland for 10 days with Glengarriff Tours. We knew we had chosen a top-notch tour company as soon as we began our initial planning. Months in advance of our trip the owner, Gene O'Sullivan, was an indispensable help with both finalizing our itinerary and suggesting excellent accommodations. He responded quickly to questions and concerns right up to the morning we met him. What an incredible tour we had! Gene picked us up at our hotel in Dublin, loaded all our luggage in the roomy cargo area of the van and the four of us settled in for a comfortable and informative ride out of the city. Gene shared historical as well as more recent Irish history as we traveled each day. He knows his Ireland! We had mapped out a general plan for what we wanted to see each day. He honored that as well as adding interesting stops at places we would never have known about! He had a special surprise for us almost every day. He quickly learned our interests and included activities to please everyone. Upon arrival at each day's final destination, Gene gave us a short city tour suggesting options for sightseeing, shopping, eating and entertainment. We were then taken to our evening accommodation where he helped us unload luggage and made certain all was in order as we checked in. We talked over our plans for the next day's activities and agreed on a morning pickup time before he left us. He arrived early each day, patiently waiting for us to finish our packing. His quick wit, warm demeanor, excellent driving skills and ever-present sense of humor made every day a joy. I can't say enough about the personal touch that came so naturally to Gene. We all came away with unforgettable memories of beautiful Ireland and our incomparable guide, Gene O'Sullivan! If you are lucky enough to book a tour with Glengarriff, you will not be disappointed!

Our group of eight friends were so lucky to have Brian as our driver this past July. He was waiting as per our arrangement in front of The Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin as we checked out. For the next five days he took us to Doolin, Dingle, Killarney, Glengarriff, Kinsale and dropped us off in Cork. We enjoyed his stories, his jokes, his driving, his smile and his restaurant recommendations. When we parted in Cork we were all very sad. Now all eight of us consider him a friend. Hey Brian, when are you coming to California? We certainly will tell everyone we know about Glengarriff Tours and how Gene and Maya were excellent to work with.

Let me just start by saying if you are undecided on if you should hire a driver for Ireland - you 100% should. The roads are difficult to navigate with all the tour buses (scary at times!) and your life will be easier if you hire Gene because he knows all the roads and has friends that call to help him avoid traffic or let him know about visibility issues at certain tourist sites. We did a 6 day tour with Gene that went west coast moving south and back to Dublin. His van was super clean and very comfortable. He brought his bigger van for us because he said everyone likes a little extra room - which was true, we really appreciated the extra space and ability to move seats so we could see the sites and take photos. From day one I felt like I had known him for years. Gene was AWESOME. He literally has friends all over the country and would call ahead to our next cities to get us dinner reservations in packed pubs with trad music, or whatever sounded good to us. He also was great about finding good pit stops on our long driving days and was very kind when a few of us were car sick one day! He was a great driver - very safe, funny, and did well with all our personalities! I lost my credit card and we were heading to another city that day - he had a few friends looking and calling him most of the day trying to help me track down the card. I eventually found it in my bag but it really calmed my nerves that someone was trying to help me find it! Gene was also awesome about getting us to the tourist things we wanted to see - but I think he excels in providing you with the ultimately unique Ireland experience. I saw castles and historical sites galore. Gene also got us to a matchmaking festival, saw a 5 x world champion Irish dancer, took us to his home, met his entire family at his son’s engagement party (his family was so welcoming to us...even the bride bless her heart!), saw an amazing 9/11 memorial, and he even got me to a small coffee shop that a friend of mine from home asked me to try to find on the fly! Gene can use his connections to help you plan your tour, find places to stay, and great restaurants to eat. I can tell you the other reviewers that say they left Ireland with a lifelong friend - they were not kidding! We love Gene and are already planning how to get ourselves back ASAP!!! My only regret is that we didn’t utilize him for more planning aspects of our trip before we arrived - he can literally help with anything you may need. Do not book with anyone else - Gene is your man!!!!

I'm so glad my wife booked Gene's company Glengarriff's Tours to take us around Western Ireland. Gene was the best guide we could have ever asked for. From making sure we had dinner reservations or offering excellent recommendations on sights to see, Gene was always spot-on. Yes, you could rent a car and see the cliffs or other attractions yourself, but the driver would totally miss out on the seeing the countryside. If you're considering a visit to Ireland, do yourself a favor and give Gene a call!

Thank you so much for the wonderful tour. We can't say how much we enjoyed Brian's company / expertise / flexibility and general personality. It was a wonderful luxury and we are so appreciative of our time in Ireland with Brian.
If you are on the fence about booking a driver (as I was), the roads are very challenging in Ireland and the distances are longer than Google Maps suggests. It was so relaxing to know that whatever activity we had, we could enjoy it, have a pint if we desired and know that we'd be relaxing in a comfortable vehicle with plenty of room for everyone to spread out. Plus, Brian helped us find some out of the way sights away from the tour bus route to enjoy. Couldn't recommend higher!!!!

Two of us hired Gene to explore Ireland, mostly west coast, for the first week of May.
When you travel with Gene you can relax and enjoy yourself because you know are in good hands and excellent company. Gene was always working first and foremost to make sure that we were comfortable and doing what we wanted to be doing
on our trip. He and Maya made wonderful hotel and restaurant arrangements for us, catering to our needs as vegans, and he truly went out of his way to help us find information about long lost family, to locate grave sites, etc. And all the while
being such a cheerful and entertaining companion... just being in Gene's company was often all we needed to enjoy ourselves. We were in safe hands as he navigated harrowing traffic in small villages or fog on the narrow roads of west Cork, and we were able to just relax and visit memorable places we'd probably never have found without Gene's help.
I'm very glad I learned about Glengarriff Tours before our trip and that we were able to employ their services. I'd recommend them to anyone.

We had a wonderful tour with Gene. We were three couples (siblings). Due to time constraints and and trying to accommodate everyone's wishes we saw more of Ireland in 5-6 days than I believed was possible. What a great experience! Gene was knowledgeable and fun. He and his wife, Maya, had the best recommendations for hotels and dining. Both are exceptionally bright and experienced travelers. We saw a variety of things and would not have had the same experience if we were on our own. All six of us would, without a doubt ,contact Gene, if we were fortunate enough to return to Ireland.
