Wonderful start to the day
Sep 2020
What a wonderful start to the visit to a magical Island. A little expensive for a short journey, but well
worth it, in view of the vistas and seal watch and then the magical garden. The cost did include the cost of the garden tour. The whole experience e is one not to miss.

Slowed to show us eagle's nest. Great system, numbers managed to allow distancing, sanitised on both sides and everyone wore masks. Friendly efficient service. Great value for money.

We went to the kiosk to purchase tickets and the guy advised us that they only accept cash but as we only had card he would give us a ticket for the ferry and €5 cash to get in to the gardens and we could pay him back upon our return! Really appreciated this nice gesture....The ferry and islands were brilliant and well worth a trip out too!

Visited glengarriff on the August bank holiday, took the blue pool ferry. Was greeted by a cheery old man who gave us lots of info on the boats and area. He gave us a special rate as there was 9 of us and made us promise we all tell our friends! We were told we had to wear masks but there was no mention of social distancing. Before boarding the boat we saw that one of the boat men was wiping the boat with spray and cloth. The island was spectacular, very tropical ! Would recommend everyone come via the blue pool ferry!

No social distancing
Aug 2020
We travelled with The Blue Ferry company on 9th August 2020 to Garnish Island. At least 25 people were squashed into the small boat with no regard for social distancing. The island was spectacular , but this company has no regard for safety during a pandemic.
We waited for over one hour on the Island waiting for a return ferry in 25 degree heat. Another ferry company came to our rescue and took the group back to the village. I would not recommend this company due to lack of adherence to safety regulations during a pandemic.

A long wait for the ferry
Aug 2020
We took the ferry to Garnish Island last week. The island is lovely and well worth a visit but we waited over half an hour for the ferry on the way over and 40 minutes on the way back. The ferry was advertised as going over and back every half hour but this was not the case last week. The boat trip to the island takes just a few minutes so there's no need for any delays. There was no social distancing on the ferry either and patrons were not asked to wear masks on the boat. They need to sort this out.

A must to do while in Glengarriff
Aug 2020
After eating in Caseys Hotel in Glengarriff, we decided to travel on the ferry to the Garinish Island and Seal Island. Tickets were €37.50 for three adults and the journey was quite quick. You do have to pay separately on the island for an entrance fee of €2.50 each, but as my Mum has very poor mobility, they didn't charge for her ticket, which I was happy with. No information was given on the boat going over to the island, so on the way back, we sat next to the driver and asked questions of what we were seeing. It was pricey for the journey, especially as you are not on the boat for that long and the price doesn't include the entrance.

REally enjoy the short trip, well run and lovely people. Lots of seal views. Totally recommend to use this service and choose the small boat.

Expensive
Aug 2019 • Couples
A hand written sign showed it was 12 euro per person on the ferry to Garinish with this company. The locals told us you can get across for 7 euro. The price seems to vary which is possibly why we couldn't see the price on their websites. The ferries are run separately to the island and it's a shame the island doesn't run its own ferry as they seem, like the tourists, to be hostages to these local services. I am all for businesses making money but be up front and put the price on your website.

As for frequency, one of the other companies 'Harbour Queen' had two ferries arrive to pick up departing passengers from the island before a 'Blue pool' ferry arrived and it's worth bearing that in mind especially as there is no queuing system to get back on the ferry.

There are toilets opposite the ticket booth for 'blue pool'. The ladies was clean. The gents had a toilet seat missing in one of the cubicles.

The journey isn't long and it's nice to see a couple of seals on the way.
