Great place to stop and stretch your legs. The beach has plenty of parking and places to eat in town. Very nice path to stroll and the views are amazing

Suitable for family with kids, couple (of course), and picnic. It has wonderful views across to the Dingle Peninsula. Such a stunning beach and waterfront area. Cafes and bars can be found nearby so you can spend your lazy time here waiting for the sunset. Also, the sunset was just amazing and we're lucky to capture the beautiful one.

This beach is RIGHT at the promenade, so easy to get to. At high tide it’s not much Sand (though you can explore the pretty green & purple rocks/stones) but at low tide it’s a gem! Some tides it goes out past the slipway.

On calm days the water becomes clear, and I saw fish as I walked in waist deep water, as well as scurrying crabs! I walked this morning at 8:00. Calm, pretty, no one there!

One morning there were SUP (stand up paddle) people out on the water. It was like glass. Some days there are surfers.

It’s a bit crowded (the promenade walk, not the beach area) during midday in summer with tourists that just drive through town & stop for 15 minutes. Stop get out of the car and enjoy this gem of a village! Sunsets are spectacular, too. The only seafront village on the Ring of Kerry!

Highly recommend you stay overnight in Waterville. Enjoy the sea!

I spent 2 nights in Waterville as I was walking the Kerry Way in September 2019. What a lovely little community that really does an exceptional job of highlighting its main feature: it's coastal setting. The beach is very accessible from the town and you have the option of taking to the literal beach or walking along a very nice boardwalk. It's not a big sandy strand like Miami or anything and disappears at a high tide so it's not THAT kind of a beach. The town has statuary along the waterfront as well as informative panels for context. Facing west, the beach provides an opportunity for brilliant sunsets. If the weather isn't cooperative, though, you are no more than 90 seconds walk from any number of warm and welcoming pubs. Also, as a bonus, there are public washrooms adjacent to the beach. I never made use of them, though, so can;t speak to their upkeep.

I am always impressed when small villages like Waterville (population less than 500) take such great care and effort to develop their seasides and make a real attraction out of what could just be another "pull your car over and look" spot. Well done, Waterville!
