Easy, flat looped walk. Good starting point is at the quays by the castle. The trail runs mostly along the Shannon but loops around inland by a small canal.

A simple and flat walking path. Most of it is along a canal through town. We did catch a great sunset however. Not great if you want epic views.

Looped walk. Green route one way, Brown route other direction. Glad i went the Green route way as when we got round to the end of the canal we had to walk along the river bank through a wet field, muddy path and through some barricades to get back to the town area. Passed what looked like a homeless persons bed/suitcase under a tree. If i had come this way round i would have given up and missed the beautiful wildlife, swans, ducks, moor hens etc that were along the beginning of the green route(end of brown route)

It is a lovely walk next to the Shannon river. You can even get the chance to feed the swans and the ducks. You can sit down on the benches and just relax. I think it is great for families with babies, toddlers or older children. Or even for a romantic walk with your love.

We went to go on the brown route but completely unsuitable for children. Heavily littered and we met a foreign tourist on the trail who advised it did not get any easier for kids and was not a pleasant walk either ways so we turned back.

Should really be cleaned up and a proper path or trail put in place if it is going to be sign posted as an official tourist walk.

This is a very nice walk convenient to the town along the banks of the River Shannon. The path is tarmac and very clean and an easy walk. Plenty of Bird life in the wooded areas and ducks and geese on the river. Leads to a short canal where there are boats moored and in a residential area. You can either walk a circular route or turn around and return by the River Shannon if you want to avoid built up areas. The walk is about 4KM and only takes about one hour to complete.

Plenty of wildlife especially Ducks and lots of Swans happily swimming in the river and on the banks. A lovely place to walk for all ages. The waterfall is spectacular with the town in the backgrond
