Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is one of the most beautiful settings in ireland. Absolutely magnificent by the lakeshore, with superb food, relaxed and utterly professional staff. All courses were great and the sommelier gave good advice. Really couldn’t ask for any more.

We loved every moment in this wonderful place, great welcome by Ray, and refreshing fresh fruit juice on arrival. The moment you step in the door, you feel the ambience. the lovely decor, the roaring fire. We thank you for the upgrade, the card and chocolates for us to celebrate our anniversary. The view from the bedroom was unreal, the lake with the swans, and ducks, and the lovely sun shining through. We had every thing you could ask for, the dressings gowns, the slippers and the high end Voya toiletries. The food was superb, best steak ever, and the seabass was just beautiful.Needles to say the choice of wine unreal.Breakfast was unreal, with freshly sqeezed juices, homemade granola, all breads made in house, and hot cooked breakfast from the kitchen, just delicious. The staff were so friendly and helpful.and we thank you all for the best time ever.It really is a little piece of heaven.A great place to watch the sunset and chill out.

My Husband and I had an overnight stay in the wineport lodge in Athlone. We had a really nice experience there from check in to check out. The guys in the bar - Ryan and Conor were very nice and friendly. The whole ambiance of the place was fab. Our room with the lakeview was also fab. Meal in restaurant very nice. Service here could be improved upon.
Overall my rating would 4.5 star.

Absolutely beautiful place for lunch. Had the opportunity to sit outside in the sun and it was just lovely. Seafood chowder was delicious and coffee was fab. Staff are all very attentive especially Alison and the mangeress was so professional and so accommodating. It was really busy and it's a beautiful place to stay, dine, have a drink or just chill out. I'll be back 🍷🤣😎

Absolute amazing, staff n hotel. On arrival we were greeted by the lovely gentlemen who led us to a seat in the conservatory and asked us if we wanted tea or coffee. We got our scones aswell. They upgraded us to a suite for our anniversary and complimentary chocolates in our room and the best of all with our 3 course meal included in the stay we were told we could have anything on menu, sides and all and it wouldn't be extra. Brilliant service. Pity place is kind of out of the way, not great for walking but hotel itself is amazing. We loved it so much, we got my brother n his wife to go and my parents ,they too got top treatment

Dropped in here with family (mum, dad, three teenagers) on way back to Dublin from Athlone. 10 minutes out of our way - well worth it. Right on the water - views are magnificient.
Warmly greeted on arrival and show to a great table / booth for lunch. Given a choice of three lunch menu. Our kids who would normally eat of the adult menu, loved the kids menu - great choice of small-adult food.
Everything we ate was fresh and delicious. Fish platter particularly good.
Pleasant surprise when I went to pay - only €95 for the five of us, and we had starters, main courses, drinks and coffees. For that quality I expected to pay much more. Well done Wineport Lodge ! We will be back

One night stay in Wineport Lodge was fabulous. The setting is beautiful, the sun was shining which always helps! The staff were very friendly and efficient. The rooms were lovely with a nice spacious spotless bathroom and a great shower. Had a tasty meal, although desserts were a little disappointing for me but my partner like them. Breakfast was delicious and lots to choose from. Outdoor hot tub looking on to lake .. stunning. We were even able to borrow hotels bikes. Can't wait to go back again.

I visited on Saturday evening last with my sister & brother in law. They have had drinks at bar on previous occasions without having a dinner reservation or being hotel resident.
On this occasion we were told we could not be served unless we had a reservation, or were resident in the hotel.
The funny thing was, we were met on the way in by a young man, & we'd said we were just having drinks. Then another young lad took our order. It was after this that we were asked if we were resident etc. We were amazed, the reason we were given was apparently something to do with the licence...
I was saddened by this as we were going to arrange a family get together in that hotel in the autumn.
