- WalorlMayotte43 contributionsAnother great day at BaysportsThis was my 3rd time at baysports this year. I came with my teenage daughter and her two friends. They had great fun, I couldn’t fault anything. From beginning to end, everything ran seamlessly. All the staff were friendly and what seems to be the owner has been onsite each time I’ve been there to oversee everything. They’ve done a great job to adhere to Covid restrictions in the current climate. I would highly recommend Baysports, it’s good outdoor fun and we were lucky with the weather the day we were there which was an added bonus for us. 😎Thank you so much for such a lovely review. We really appreciate you taking the time to leave it. Hopefully we might see you again for a forth visit!Written 16 November 2020This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited September 2020Travelled with familyWritten 6 September 2020
- Nikki M19 contributionsGreat day outI visited Bay Sports on Sunday 26 September and we had a wonderful day. Attraction itself: Brilliant experience, suitable for different fitness levels. The water is freshwater, so no worries if it gets in your eyes. The website says you can walk or swim out to the attraction however my feet could not reach the ground. I am 5"2 for reference. However I noticed most people, even my friend who is quite tall, were swimming. There are staff on the attractions however no one is actually monitoring the people going down the slides. This meant people going down slides could bump into people at the bottom if the people at the bottom were too close. On a few occasions you have to pass by the bottom of one slide to get to the next attraction and if you aren't careful you could get hit by someone coming down the slide as no one is monitoring the situation. It is up to you to make sure you aren't too close to the base of a slide and similarly, if you are going down a slide, it is up to you to ensure the space at the end is clear. You are given a wet suit and life vest. My friend who cannot swim had no problems in the water. It was a bit of a rainy and overcast type of day but surprisingly the water was not as cold as we expected. We only got cold if we hung out on the attractions for too long. Once we were in the water we were ok. Location: Baysports is located a bit out of the way. If you drive, there are no issues but if, like us, you are reliant on public transport, it is a bit difficult to get to. Also there were basically no taxis on a Sunday in the area. There seemed to be one taxi driver doing all of the fares to and from it. Site: The changing ares are like tents but can accommodate a decent number of people without feeling claustrophobic. There is a cloakroom which can accommodate 2 or 3 schoolbag size bags for 2 euro. After Sports: Our main issue was after the activity. There are hot showers to heat up but they are outdoors, right beside the waterfront. So you have to have a nice hot shower outdoors in front of everyone and then make the chilly walk to stand in the queue to retrieve your belongings. You could get your belongings first but there wasn't anywhere close to the showers for us to leave them, without them getting wet and dirty. On a warm day this is probably not so bad, but we had quite a cloudy and rainy day. The food truck which we were looking forward to was closed so we couldn't heat up with some food either. There were no facilities to dry your hair either. We are 3 women with long hair and a long train journey. This meant we were freezing cold for the long trip home. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and recommend this to groups of friends or to work places looking for team building days. The staff are friendly, the premises are clean and the inflatable waterpark is great fun.HI Nikki, Thank you so much for your detailed review and for pointing out some of your concerns. The distance from the end of the blue blocks and the landing platform is roughly 50 meters, It is a straight path to the landing area and we feel it is the perfect scenario to adjust to the water temperature/feeling while being completely supervised. The main park and all slides are supervised by a member of staff and there is also a rescue boat circulating constantly. The member of staff on the slide is responsible for controlling the numbers on their slide and ensuring the splash down area is clear. If this wasn't the case during your session I apologise but assure you all our staff have been trained to do so and are gently reminded throughout the day. Location - We are less than a 10 min drive from Athlone town, but like you said if you don't drive it can be tricky. Next time try the Viking boat it leaves the town centre and brings you right to the harbour in Hodson Bay. Thank you so much once again for you detailed review and for sharing your experience. We hope you will come along again and hopefully the sun comes out for your next visit.Written 21 October 2021This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited September 2021Written 27 September 2021
- Roger SGalway, Ireland3 contributionsA great family day outReally smooth checking, plenty of car parking, tea coffee and food on site. The staff were friendly and helpful. The water park was great fun. We are already talking about our next trip. It was also nice to be able to slip straight in to the lovely Hodson Bay hotel afterwards for lunch 😀. In advance, an hour seemed short, but the full hour on the water was plenty of time to get the most of all the slides and I think the whole package was excellent valueVisited August 2021Travelled with familyWritten 19 August 2021

Favourites were the slides and the obstacles, kids really loved them. Bring socks with grips. Great fun and well run. Showering and changing facilities could be better and family changing rooms an option?? Overall we would 100% return.

This was our 3rd year back ! Every time we go as a family, it's the BEST day out ! Highly recommend. Great day for bonding with the kids before they go back to school. I think we as parents had just as much fun !

I brought four kids ; the older kids did the larger area and enjoyed . I paid over 44 euro for junior area ; for two 6 year olds ; complete waste of money .

This water park is the best in Ireland. Unfortunately my son got stung by a wasp but thankfully the staff there were amazing. A bottle of vinegar some TLC and an icepack were kindly dispensed. I was really impressed. Thanks everyone.

Visited here on a Sunday - paid for the pedal boat and a double kayak . The pedal boats all looked in poor condition and not very clean . Hard to control them and there was constantly people swimming back from the obstacle course so we had to keep dodging them . So there was not a lot of lake space we could really go . So we gave up after 20 minutes despite having it for 1 hour . Nothing asked or said to us upon returning the boat . My son changed his mind and didn’t want to do the kayak so we exchanged it for the junior park . It’s very poorly looked after , not clean and some parts of it not fully inflated .
First changing rooms were clean but then the tent you have to get changed in after is awful . No privacy and just benches with a tarp screen on them . It all seemed very just put together in whatever way shape or form they could regarding materials . All in all we spent less than 1 hr here for €60 . It seems the only parts really used is the large inflatables . Apart from that I don’t think much care is put into anything else . Won’t return sadly . Very little for children under 10 to do .

I visited Baysports in Athlone in mid July but was disappointed, the Big slide was not erected, staff did not seem very interested and while my sons said it was ok but not brilliant. Today we went to Dunmore East aqua park and it is fare superior, friendly staff, clear instructions , 3 life guards at aqua park until one in Athlone…also staff in Dunmore East interacted with the kids on the aqua park.
