We had to visit the oldest pub in Europe, and it’s a typical Irish pub - nice people, good drinks & atmosphere. The first thing that struck me was a strong fireplace smell, but the pub didn’t seem smoky. It’s not huge, but cozy. Our bartender was attentive. We just had one drink because we still had to drive over an hour to our hotel - try the Orchard Thieves blood orange cider - it’s amazing! Bathrooms are great too!

We are regulars to Sean's Bar. We always enjoy visiting here. The staff are very friendly and efficient. A special mention to a young lady we have met recently
her name is Claire a Mayo lady. She is just so friendly and pleasant which is lovely
to see. Keep up the good work Claire.

I used to frequent Sean’s Bar very regularly years ago when I lived in Athlone. The staff here always had a bad reputation for being rude & bias. However, I visited Sean’s for a few drinks over the Xmas with my husband & was pleasantly surprised. The staff were extremely friendly & efficient, just the way it should be..Well done on such a fab revamp, the toilets & beer garden area are fabulous..

We were in Athlone so decided we had to visit here. In some ways it's almost a tourist trap with souvenirs and the likes for sale. However, the pints, service and atmosphere are all good and at the end of the day that is what matters for a pub.

I imagine it gets more tourists than regulars.

Extremely friendly bar staff. Very willing to help tourist by providing directions, suggestions, and history.

And most importantly they pour an exceptional pint of Guinness!

Worth the short detour off the expressway to enjoy a pint.
