Not going to lie, as we were driving toward Dublin and looking for cities to stop and explore, seeing GUINNESS record for oldest bar was a big draw. Sean's Bar did not disappoint. It was busy from the afternoon until night. The staff were friendly,...More

Said to be the oldest pub in Europe, we thought we would take a look on the way from Dublin to Galway. We had a great time! It’s street parking or there’s a car park around the corner. Kids are allowed until 7!

Stopped in for one drink while visiting attractions in Athlone and as usual, it did not disappoint! Beautiful pint of Guinness, beautiful atmosphere and very friendly staff! Despite being filled with a variety of nationalities, it feels so Irish when you step inside the door!...More

Lovely pub with great old school Irish atmosphere. Really welcoming staff and they are knowledgeable about the history of the pub. A must see in Athlone.

We drove here with the plan to eat lunch there....they don’t serve food so we looked around a bit at Ireland’s oldest bar and left. It was a bit of a disappointment not going to lie!

Read about this pub online and had to stop! Our host that day was Timmy, who has worked at the pub over 30 years. He happily gave us a complete history - including that of Irish Whiskey vs. Scotch Whiskey. Whiskey was invented in Ireland!...More

There's a super organic cafe just up the road from Sean's below the Bastion b&b. Highly recommended for breakfast and lunch or just yummy drinks/snacks.
