Very interesting insight into the history of Lisdoonvarna and the Spa Wells. The volunteers were very friendly and knowledgeable and the images of Lisdoonvarna in generations gone by were in particular fascinating to see. Well worth the visit!

A very interesting spot to visit. A well curated history of the Victorian Spa Wells, guided by very knowledgeable volunteers and finishing with the chance to sample some of the famous mineral water, and all for an optional donation. Definitely worth a visit.

Brilliant way to spend a couple of hours, a very informative display and guided tour by enthusiastic well informed volunteers. The history of the spas is well laid out and you also get a great sense of the history of the matchmaking festivals, started by the gentry visiting to take the waters and then continued by tourists until the Covid pandemic forced them to be cancelled. As a follow on from the tour, we also located the twin wells in the town park. A great morning well spent with really good tour guides. Voluntary donations but the group is starting to really develop the wells and surrounds so well worth supporting. Morning times only!!

Visited Lisdoonvarna Spa Wells on Sunday morning and we were pleasantly surprised by the history of this spa town. Nothing beats a tour given by an enthusiastic, entertaining volunteer who loves Lisdoonvarna and it’s history. This is one of the few attractions that is free in the area and it is well worth a trip. The volunteers need cash to maintain and develop the Spa which is owned by the town so donations are gratefully received but not pushy about that either…only if you can afford it!

Whatever else you do in Lisdoonvarna, do go to the Spa Wells & Gardens! The spot is beautiful, you will only be able to appreciate it when you go down there and look around. The gardens are crossed by two rivers which meet just before the old bridge. It is peaceful and regally victorian down there. We met the gardeners, all volunteers, who pour their heart into making the grounds look even more beautiful.
Right now, there is an excellent exhibition on, put on entirely by very knowledgeable volunteers who want to share the passion for their town and history. You will learn everything about the history of Ireland first spa town, not the least through big photographs from well over 100 years ago. The volunteers will be very happy to show you the original pump house where the health inducing water is being served to this day.
The visit of the gardens and the exhibition is free. Oh, and there are picnic benches if you're looking for a spot to sit down and eat.
Lisdoonvarna is so much more than the matchmaking festival. Its history of the origins of the spa town and the tradition of matchmaking is absolutely fascinating and unique.
So recommended!

We had an excellent tour of this interesting Victorian spa. The enthusiastic volunteers have done a great job in acquiring a collection of artefacts and photographs which gives a fascinating insight into the development of the town as a spa in the nineteenth century. Well worth a visit.

The gardens are just beautiful and were a joy to look around. We have a brilliant historical tour, video, talk, photos and Pump Room visit with Pat. It was great as we had some elderly members of our bubble with us and could book just for ourselves so it was so safe. Pat was so enthused, the talk was fascinating and the kids loved the gadgets! Highly recommended.
