Perfect afternoon ride, gorgeous horses and scenery
Sep 2019
Sept 2018: Being a veterinary technician I make it a habit to do as many animal encounters as possible during my travels. I specifically chose this stable due to the staple Irish Cob horses they use for the rides - not at all a common trail breed in the US! Plus, the views of the trails looked gorgeous! If we had more time I would have loved a longer trip, but we only made it for a 2-3 hour ride.

My husband and I booked this trip following a day trip to the Cliffs of Moher. From there with a car GPS it was not too difficult to find the stables. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful and their border collie and I became friends for life! :) I was also very excited that our trip included lots of cantering! They catered it to the frequency of our choice and made sure we both wanted to (i said yes everytime of course, but i think my hubby wouldve rather not hehe).

My biggest piece of advice when booking here is to be honest with the staff! They pair you with a horse complimenting your experience level so be sure not to exaggerate this. If you've only ridden a few trail rides, you're not an experienced rider and there's absolutely no shame in being a beginner as long as you say so!

Being a decently experienced rider myself , I was sure to tell them so. I appreciate a challenge and a horse with some spunk as it makes for a more exciting ride. My husband has done some trails and requested a beginners mount. Along the ride his horse Guinness was exactly what he'd hoped- calm, laid back, spook proof. In return, it took a lot more effort to get him to canter with myself and the staff but that was perfect for him!

On the other hand, my girl was a firecracker and I loved her! She would canter at the click of my heel and I had to keep her in line a few times, but it was a fun ride. We had a few hiccups when a loose barking dog ran at her - she literally jumped into a bush filled ditch off the path but luckily nobody was hurt. She also spooked while walking past some breezy clothes on a clothes line. Luckily, I was paying attention as all animal-involved participants should and was able to stay on and get her in control. If my hubby was the one riding her, he might've ended up on the ground :)

Now, this is in no way a complaint as you can't blame an animal for getting spooked. No matter how well trained an animal is, they are all unique and you are always taking a risk when working with them. Just simply a reminder as to why you should elaborate on your experience levels and no matter what your skill set, be prepared for the unexpected.

We 100% loved our rides and would definitely come back if we ever head back to Ireland

Late with this review from our mid September ride at Mountain View. First lets start with Peter, owner and most wonderful horse embassador! His love and care for his animals was extraordinary!! The horses were kind and respectful, clearly trained, cared for, and loved! Peters wonderful staff also beyond amazing. Then the ride to the beach in Peters rig was impressive! What an exellent driver, respectful of everyone on the road, tour buses, locals etc. Narrow roads, ginormous rig! But Peter is a pro! The beach was amazing. We all did some loping, riding through the surf, just a super experience. Peter, you are truly one of a kind! Your outgoing and super humorous storytelling, so funny! Thank you so much for being warm and inviting to the California group! We'll definitely be back when we return to the Emerald Isle!! Your friends, the Daly family

We were coming from doolin cave and saw signs for the horse centre, we stopped and of course a group had just left. Peter the owner made an exception and had Stephanie bring me for a 1 hour ride just her and I. She was a delight to ride with and he was professional and kind. I would recommend them to anyone visiting Ireland.

I came to Ireland specifically to ride, so my expectations were fairly high. Mountain View exceeded them. Sweet, well-cared for, beautiful horses and LOVELY and welcoming guides, stunning views during the rides-- the beach ride was probably the most amazing thing I've done on any trip in my entire life. The weather was super rainy for me but I still had the time of my life. The weather didn't both the horses at all, Wear rain gear! A ride with Mountain View is a must if you're in the area (or if you aren't in the area, I came in from Dublin and was very glad I did).

Great hour trekking

Turned up without a reservation hoping for just an hour's ride, the girl on site (whose name I can't remember sorry!) was more than happy to go there and then. We got kitted up and she took us through the astounding Clare countryside mainly down tracks and on a few roads. Beautiful views of the Arran Islands and the Burden, and the girl knew the perfect spot to stop and take out picture. The horses were amazing creatures, well-behaved and friendly even to inexperienced riders like ourselves. Didn't go faster than a trot but I'm sure we would have if we had done so before. Worth every cent.

Wonderful place, wonderful ride
Aug 2019
My 9-year-old had his heart set on riding a horse while in Ireland and Mountain View made his wish come true. As neither he nor my husband ride, we opted for the one-hour trail ride. I was content to walk, maybe trot, with them, but lo and behold, our guides split our group into two towards the end so that the half of the group with more experience could have a lovely canter. Everyone went home happy.

The horses are gorgeous and kind, the guides are wonderful riders and very friendly, the scenery is lovely; it was a magical afternoon for my entire family. They do rides of different lengths, so any level rider can be accommodated; I'm already hoping to do the two-hour ride the next time we visit. Because the best way to see Ireland is between the ears of a horse.

The genuine welcome and hospitality made this one of the most special holidays. Gentle, sure footed horses took us down pretty country roads to Fanore beach, it’s dunes and golden strand promising unforgettable canters through sand and surf. Peter’s duty of care towards horse and rider is second to none. You’re in a safe pair of hands - the horses are fantastic and exceptionally well cared for, our guide Haley was charming and great fun. We can’t recommend this place enough. This was a return visit and we will definitely be back.

This was THE BEST experience in Ireland. Peter is friendly, caring, & truly loves his job. The horses were extremely well kept and loved. Our guide was Haley, and she provided us with many opportunities to trot & canter. We had experienced riders in our group, including my two daughters. They loved it!
We started with a trip in the lorry to the beach where we mounted our horses, then trotted and cantered through the surf. We then rode back to the farm on roads, paths and trails where we saw many beautiful cottages.
Everyone we encountered was friendly and accommodating to the horses.
This was worth every single euro spent. We loved it!

Guides are SO kind!
Jul 2019
The guides are amazing. I got upset half way through the trek because my horse was bullying the other horses, and I couldn’t control him. I have little experience riding, and the whole situation made me upset. One of the guides very kindly talked me through it and took me back to the stable. The horse was just having a bad day, and with my lack of experience, it was really scary for me. However, the guides handle this very well and will help you in any way that they can. My mom came with me, and she loves riding, and she had a wonderful time. I definitely recommend this place because of the kindness and hospitality of the guides. “Horses are like people, they have bad days too.” Next time I am in Ireland, I definitely want to come back and try again!! If you are in Ireland, this is a MUST. The guides make it all worth it, and the views were amazing!
