I explained to our kids about the film and they wanted to see it. Nice to see it and just remember the film

It's just like the movie!

If you like the Quiet Man movie, you will love visiting this bridge! The view is just like that in the movie, and it's quiet, with large fields of sheep and a lovely little brook. Its a must-see!

For film buffs

We went out exploring and the owner of Kelly's suggested we visit the bridge. I didn't know The Quiet Man well, but what the heck! It is a nice drive and peaceful, lovely place. Someone who knows the film better would love it.

This bridge is just 30 seconds off the road, so it would be a pity to drive by and not stop to get photo of yourself or your friends perched on the bridge like John Wayne. It's a lovely spot to stop and stretch your legs.

Adorable old stone bridge.
Aug 2019
Whether you've seen the movie The Quiet Man or not, the cute little stone bridge is worth a stop. It's only a short way from a main road and takes very little time to visit. It oozes charming character, like most Irish stone structures, and visitors can pick their way to the shore of the creek to photograph it from the side.

Parking is adequate and close to the bridge, and signs tell visitors about the movie and John Wayne's scene here. Cute, peaceful stop when you're driving along that main road toward Galway or Connemara. And when you watch The Quiet Man after your Irish adventure, you'll know exactly where that scene was filmed.

A fine old bridge
Aug 2019
The bridge below is a wonderful old construct as was featured in the movie but is worth noting in its own right. Ireland has some of the best old mediaeval bridges still standing today. Worth a quick visit and walk around.

Quintessentially Irish & John Wayne
Sep 2019
The Quiet Man is one of my favourite films so a visit to the Quiet Man bridge was a must. In my minds eye i could see John Wayne with Maureen O'Hara standing beside him on the bridge. Park up take it all in and drift away.

Not easy to find, but worth the search if you are a “Quiet Man” fan!

It was only on our fifth time past the turn-off on N59 that we found it. The locals will tell you it’s about 5 miles outside Oughterard westbound toward Clifden and “you can see the bridge from the road”. While this is true, you only see the bridge about 100 yards after the turn-off from N59. The secret is to look for the turn-off for Leam on the left side of the road if you are coming from Oughterard (on the right if you are coming from points west), as there are no signs for the bridge itself. Once you go about 150 feet down the road from N59, the bridge comes into view, There is a nice parking area just before you get to the bridge with enough width to allow a K-turn to get back to N59 without much effort.

Parking is right next to the bridge, you wouldnt even need to get out of the car. A bit overgrown with flora. Doesnt seem to be managed by anyone.
