Was in this area recently and couldn't resists visited this bridge. Its a beautiful area and unspoilt and not commercial. There's just a plaque with a picture of John Wayne. Its not very well sign posted from the main the road so look out for it. And be careful as its still in use. We later went onto the village... More

The signage on the highway was non existent. Luckily a local told us how to get there. There really isn't much to see. You have to be a John Wayne fan to appreciate it.

One of the few iconic sites for John Wayne lovers and it didn't cost a thing. A beautiful scenic spot that hasn't changed since the movie "Quiet Man" was filmed there.

The bridge is in Leam, where the Connemara Cottages are located and it is a wonderful way to get the feeling of what John Wayne experienced as he sat there looking out and remembering, and knowing he was going topurchase his old family farm.

Lovely site and that's all there is to say about it. If you do have time, you can make de detour, if you have to make a choice ... this is not the most important place to be.

Can imagine it being hard to find, we happened to know it was called Leam Bridge so found the turn off easily enough. Little or no parking nearby
