Great restaurant.

Great food, reasonably priced and very welcoming staff, just off main road from Galway to Clifden. Well located near a 15th century castle which is well worth a visit. Would highly recommend.

Really nice parkland course
Aug 2019
Played in 3 hours and 15 minutes on a Sunday afternoon, greens were really fast and of course the course was green and in beautiful shape. More like American courses than the links I usually play in Ireland , 50 euro , very reasonable , friendly staff

Warm welcome despite the weather
Aug 2018 • Couples
Arrived on an extremely wet day with a mid day tee time booked. No body out on the course and the very aimiable assistant in the pro shop suggested we wait to see if the weather improved. Finally at 4p.m rain had eased and the 4 of us ventured out.The course itself was very well presented with the quality of greens exceptional considering the deluge that occured earlier in the day.Although we only played 12 holes it was very enjoyable and would certainly visit again if in the area. As I previously mentioned the gentleman in the pro shop was most obliging and a credit to your club.

Traveling for 2 months, Oughterard for golf
Aug 2017 • Couples
Had several email communications with club, tee time 08:50 set with rental clubs and buggy. **Did not notice the bottom of the email requiring advance payment. Not a problem when I called Friday morning, recognized my name.

Arrived in Oughterard Thursday evening, rain, and more scheduled for next day. Sent email to club advising I could not play at 08:50 in rain due to health reasons on Friday, and could another tee time be available and could include Saturday. Noted in email I would call at 7:00 a.m. but found out that pro shop does not open until 08:30. Spoke with pro shop about 08:40 and was told no tee time available for me that a group was taking all tee times. It did turn out to be rather nice on Friday afternoon and wonderful on Saturday.
Drove past club twice Saturday while touring with my wife.......course appeared almost empty. Guess the economy is good enough they don't need income from non members.
3 nights lodging, all meals, gas for car, shopping in town, haircut from local shop, and fees to visit local sites, Castle, Garden etc.
Can only surmise non members not particularly of interest to club.
Have played many courses in Ireland and always felt welcome........played last year in Galloway, should have gone back to this club. Felt welcome and members invited me for drinks after golf and drove me back to my hotel (wife did not have to come and get me).
Will skip Oughterard next trip.

Good afternoon, We have looked into your problem. I am sorry that you didn't get the chance to experience our course. I notice that your email to the office requested a early tee time on Saturday after failing to play on Friday and i'm sorry to say that you were mislead. Early Tee times are very much available at our club bar competition days on Sundays and some Saturdays. The Pro Shop opens based on the timesheet (this morning at 7.30 and 6.45am on Sundays - for example) and would of done on this day for you if needed. The day itself was busy but would of had spells where tee times were not filled by the organisation that had use of the course, maybe you passed at these times. This organisation has control of the tee and busy or not members or visitors can only play if allowed by the paying group. If you called into the club at the times you passed we could of asked for this. Oughterard Golf Club bases itself on good customer service and a friendly atmosphere. Which many of our earlier reviews detail. We are very much sorry that miscommunication lead to you not getting out early on the Saturday morning and should you return to the area we would hope to right your wrong. Oughterard Golf Club and its facilities is very much open for visitors and have been recently been nominated for a award by the general public for Club of the year by the Irish Restaurant Association. Please get in touch should you return to this beautiful area. Regards Oughterard Golf Club

We travelled from USA and had a group for golf. We were able to rent clubs, right and left handed. Everyone was very accommodating. Beautiful place to golf.
