It was very interesting to walk through the lobby of this castle. You see the old part of the establishment plus where there has been some modernization due to necessity. Being 800 years old it looks wonderful.

Just about castled-out by the time we got to this one; not sure anymore whether we were looking at the 15th earl or the 11th duke. Nonetheless, the tour was good and the guide showed humour and detailed knowledge. Great coffee.

Howth Castle is located along the road to the golf course. It's an uphill climb and takes 5-10 minutes to get there, but it is a very nicely preserved castle and worth the time to visit.

The castle is beautiful, but in my opinion, the real gem is the ancient rhododendron garden hiding behind the nearby golf course at the top of the hill. There's a path behind the shop/bar building on the left that will take you into the garden,...More

Delighted you enjoyed them; they are at their best just now.

This castle is not such attraction as the town itself. It is not running as a castle with historic expositions so it is just nice building in perfect green grounds.
