We stayed in Carrick-on-Shannon over the weekend for a family meeting and went to the Glencar Waterfall on a beautiful sunny day. It was worth the one hour drive, great landscape, nice waterfall. About 3 km down the road there is another waterfall and we took the loop walk - also worth a visit.

We saw a sign for the waterfall and decided to take the detour. It was a nice little waterfall as waterfalls go. Pretty scenery around. Nice if you have some extra time. For us, probably not worth the 40 minutes extra driving.

My husband and I loved this place so much. It was probably our favorite part about visiting Ireland. It is really a delight and worth the visit. There's a cute cafe at the bottom with really tasty soups and sandwiches. I had a hot chai that was perfect with my meal.

This is definitely worth the detour! I was driving back from Benbulben, Co Sligo when I noticed a sign for this waterfall and took the detour. It did not disappoint. Glencar waterfall is stunning, located in the middle of a very short looped walk which is magnificent in itself! There are steps involved in the looped walk but it is... More

This is a beautiful and inspIring place. So scenic and easy to get to. A riverside path leads directly to the waterfall.

This is a magnificent waterfall and about 3mins walk from the coffee shop. The paths could get slippery but well worth the walk

This waterfall is absolutely stunning and very easily accessible, there are facilities there - car park, toilets, tea rooms etc but little else except natural beauty at its absolute best. Take the detour, you won't be disappointed.

The drive out to Glencar waterfall is hard to put into words, its breath taking and stunning all at the same time. It was quite an overcast July day but the shadows on the lake were out of this world. The walk up to the waterfall is short and doesn’t really take that long, but for us the children’s playground...
