We enjoyed a two night stay at Hunters Yard over the May bank holiday weekend. The resort comprised two hotels namely the Manor House and Hunters yard, with only a short walk between the two through beautiful grounds. In the day of arrival, the Manor House was closed for a wedding but was open to visit the next day. The bedrooms at Hunters Yard were modern, spacious and very comfortable with everything a guest would need. The bathroom was modern with good quality toiletries. The room was ready when we checked in and on return from breakfast the next morning, the room had already been made up, which was great service. The food at The Hound restaurant was delicious and the tables on the enclosed terrace looked out on the driving range and grounds, which was beautiful for breakfast or sunset dining. The breakfast buffet was good , with some of the cooked to order items available without additional charge. All staff were friendly, professional and made us feel very welcome. We were celebrating a special occasion and the little complimentary touches provided were lovely. If staying in Hunters Yard, it is worth the short walk over to the Manor House for afternoon coffee or for a pre /post dinner drink. We used the pool which was lovely, albeit small but didn’t avail of other activities like the spa, golf , horse riding etc. Prices for food and drink was not cheap but was not excessive for this standard of hotel. Overall, it was a very enjoyable weekend and I look forward to a return visit, .

We recently celebrated the wedding of our son at Mount Juliet. We stayed in the Manor House and the wedding was outdoors in the Lily pond garden.
From the minute we arrived on Thursday until the time we left on Saturday we were treated with 100% service and efficiency. The staff were amazing. Friendly, attentive, efficient, and not to mention Des who was brilliant.

Would definitely recommend checking this venue out for any couples looking for a beautiful setting for their big day

I dined with my family in the hound restaurant about a week ago. The menu was amazing and suitable to our liking. The decor of the place was beautiful. We decided to dine here after our long walk along the beautiful gardens. We were greeted again by a fine gentleman James who we came across a couple of months ago back in November. James is a fantastic asset to mount Juliet. His charm enthusiasm and fantastic service was excellent. The restaurant again was very busy which was a good sign. James explained the drinks menu and wines to my mother who is a wine lover. James again remained calm and very courteous and professional at all times. I have dined In other 5 star restaurants before and never came across such service and professionalism like James has. He is a fantastic asset to mount Juliet and I can see this fine young gentleman going very far in life. I believe he is a darts lover as he was chatting away to my uncle about darts. The dishes were amazing we left very full and satisfied with everything.

Nice experience but it was obvious the hotel were doing their best but under huge pressure with Covid and staffing. Food was really really good, as were the cocktails. The bar had a lovely laid back atmosphere (thanks to a lovely singer who had a lovely voice and not too loud).
Grounds are stunning and the equestrian club staff were V friendly and welcoming.

We booked a dinner in the hound restaurant (earliesh sitting) that was almost empty at the time, for myself and partner - we were put sitting right next to a family with young children (who to be fair were very well behaved but were as noisy as you’d expect 6+4year olds to be).

Found it hard to even draw waiters attention to it, to request to move , as the family were so close to us it was hard to do it subtly.

Found it an odd decision to place us there considering there was about 50 other seats / tables empty there at the time. It took away from our overall experience as we were really looking forward to a night away on our own, and would of preferred a table away from others ( if the option wasn’t there, we would of accepted that, but the restaurant was empty at the time).

Similar thing for the breakfast the following morning, we were asked if we would prefer to move in closer to other people (again young families and babies) but this time we said no, we preferred a space to ourselves, ( again there was PLENTY of empty tables), and considering the pandemic, I think it’s even more understandable, that young couples don’t want to be put sitting right next to big family groups.

Overall the staff were friendly and welcoming. It’s just a pity re the seating at dinner.

Good afternoon Mr Walsh, Firstly I wanted to thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, with such valuable feedback. I also wanted to thank you for choosing to stay with us here at Mount Juliet. I can understand your disappointment as your experience dining with us as did not live up to the standard that our guests can expect from us. Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day, and our aim is to make such each guest enjoys their meals in a relaxing atmosphere. More care needs to be given to the seating arrangements if they include children and single couples. Please be assure that this feedback has been passed on to our Food and Beverage manager who offers his apologies for our shortcomings on the matter. Thank you for your very kind words regarding our staff members and the ground we are set on, it really makes it all worthwhile when somebody enjoys a visit. I hope it is not too long before we have the privilege of welcoming you back to the Estate again even if it is just for some more cocktails. Warm regards, Sharon Walker Guest Relations Executive Mount Juliet Estate

I organized a trip for 5 company directors, one night in Mt Juliet. We stayed in Hunters Yard. Our meeting room was good but after that pretty much everything was far from 5 stars. The restaurant was cold, as was the bar. This is the bar that had an open fire that no one attended to. The place just seemed to lack management and any atmosphere. There was zero Irish welcome which is worrying for a hotel like this. Breakfast was the oddest experience with a lot of dishes on the menu a supplement payment even when you had paid for B&B. Eggs Benedict is hardly something you should have to pay extra for??? I travel for work a lot and I honestly have never seen that arrangement at breakfast before.
We spent a lot of money in one night and left really underwhelmed.

Overall very disappointed in our weekend stay. We treated ourselves to a luxury 5 star overnight stay, as we had been working very hard over the last two years.
We have stayed in multiple 5 star hotels before and this is not in par with our previous experiences.

For our overnight stay plus dinner it cost €662. It was not worth that.

Some of what we experienced is detailed below:

1. Arrival in the lashing rain. Pull up to valet- no service available.
2. Went to the bar to watch the rugby match. The bar resembled a shed. Tiny tv with poor sound. Very few seats. We asked for a snack as people beside us had toasted sandwiches and soup. We were told there was nothing available for us. I asked two different staff members one of which was a manager and told it wasn’t possible.
3. Lady Helen Michelin-starred restaurant, which we had been told was a gastronomic experience was not that great. Nice, but not worth €240 for 3 courses and a bottle of wine.
4. A lot of things seemed to be out of order and attention to detail lacked. Coffee machine at breakfast (so only filtered coffee available), Nespresso in room and printer at checkout all were out of order. Bathrobes in room all creased and bathrooms in public areas required attention.

Overall the staff were friendly but not with the etiquette of a 5 star hotel as was the theme of the stay including decor and standard of food.

I wouldn’t recommend nor will I be staying again.

Bought a voucher for golf, dinner, bed and breakfast but when I tried to book it I found it is almost impossible to use. The voucher said
'not valid at peak times i.e. Easter, Halloween, July, August , bank holiday weekend and Christmas'
However when I attempted to use it I found I could not get any dates. After 6 phone calls where they refused every date even though they were available on the website, I eventually asked them to email the dates I could use it from 1/9 to 31/12. I was offered only 13 possible days over the entire quarter and they were mainly at the end of October on Sundays or midweek. Hardly the dates you'd pick to play golf!!!!!!!!

If you are expecting five-star service for your stay at the Manor House, you will not be getting it. You will rather leave a bit disappointed with the stay in general.

Below is a list of unfavorable experiences we had while staying there:
1. Upon arrival, there were dead rotted flies and cobwebs in our room at the Manor House as well as towels that smelled very, very unclean.
2. When having lunch outside the Manor House,
Harissa Mayo was spilled all over one of our chairs and coat by one of the staff and there was not even an offer of a new napkin or a wet napkin to clean it up. We had to ask for a napkin to clean up the mess and received cocktail napkins, not substantial enough to even make a dent.
3. During afternoon tea at The Manor House, housekeeping came into the room and started vacuuming as we were eating and drinking. Very unpleasant.
4. One morning at Manor House breakfast, the Eggs Benedict was served to us on toasted hamburger buns. We assume it was because as they were out of English muffins - but were not told beforehand and only offered a new dish after we complained.
5. If you book in for an activity, don’t expect promptness to be a priority- we had to wait 30 minutes to start our archery session.
6. Room service is obviously not a priority for guests at The Manor House: despite the unpleasantness already listed above, we had put a sign on the room doors indicating that the rooms be cleaned. We were out all day and returned in the evening to the rooms not having been attended to. We tried to call down for new towels, but as the phone was unattended too, we had to walk to reception to request them.

All the items above highlight the need for service improvement at The Manor House. I will not be returning.

A few positives to takeaway are:
1. The Manor House Bellman was fabulous
2. Lady Helen was divine
3. And, the transfer service between Hunters Yard and The Manor house was top notch

Wonderful property with echo's of times past.We visited in early Janurary when the Irish weather was wet and cold. Mount Juliet is a perfect place for this as you can sit in one of the grand rooms in front of a log fire and be spoiled by the friendly staff.
The rooms in the Manor House are a vision from past extravagence with the fit out of a modern five star.
there are numerous walks by the river and around the golf course.Bikes and a swimming pool are also on site.
Overall a wonderful few days visit which unfortunately most of us cannot afford more often.
Thomastown, a favourite place for artists and musicians, and Medieval Kilkenny City are only a short drive.

Poor service especially breakfast service.

Paid €1055 for 2 night Easter break with the kids & it was not worth the money.

Breakfast orders wrong both days, toast arrived when leaving, one coffee didn’t arrive, cold poached eggs, kids orders wrong etc. and even when we raised the issues it took ages to sort it out.

Had to ask numerous questions about kids club, meals etc. as some of this was included in our package but we had to drive all the queries.

Couldn’t even book lunch on Sat when kids were off at the kids club (which they really enjoyed) so that wasn’t great. Luckily we were able to get take away chips from the restaurant.

We got a cot in the room instead of fold out bed & after 2 hours (near kids bed time) we had to go back to reception to remind them.

Would certainly not pay this type of money again for this time of experience.

Good evening from Mount Juliet, Firstly I wanted to thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, with such valuable feedback. I also wanted to thank you for choosing to stay with us here at Mount Juliet. The issues you have faced while staying with us here on the Estate is not something we class as standard and certainly not acceptable for any guest to endure. We pride ourselves on providing our guests with a true 5* experience and on this occasion it is clear that we missed the mark. I want to apologise for the array of issues you and your family faced. Should you return to us at Mount Juliet, you now have me a point of contact. I would personally look after your stay and make sure you and your family receive the service and standard you deserve. Warm regards Sharon Walker Guest Relations Executive.
